DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Madre Sun.
Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.
This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we found a London based rockers Madre Sun sat on the beach. Their home is far from the sea, let alone our Island, so how did they end up here?
How did they cope with life on Devil's Island? Find out now...
Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.
So you're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?
Tyson: The Doors - LA Women. They are my all time favourite band and this is in my opinion their best album.
Eduardo: Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV. I love Led and the 4th was the biggest blast when I first listened to it, I can say it changed my path.
Matt: AC/DC – Back In Black. My favourite album ever.
Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?
Tyson: The Beatles - Abbey Road. Great album cover and I would also remind me that eventually I would miss being in London.
Eduardo: The Clash – London Calling. To remind me how to smash things properly.
Matt: The Ramones – Ramones. To never forget about my essences.
There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to chose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?
Tyson: Dark Rum & Coke… double.
Eduardo: Lager beer
Matt: Triple Jack on the rocks and leave the bottle, please.
Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. Whats the merch and for what band?
Tyson: Led Zeppelin T-Shirt
Eduardo: Motorhead poster
Matt: Alice in Chains pick (I got from Jerry Cantrell at a show in Brazil)
You're sat on the island thinking "I'm stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity"... who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?
Tyson: Keith Richards. He would have great stories and also the secret to living forever.
Eduardo: John Bonham. Someone else to drink and jam with.
Matt: Lemmy Kilmister. He could help us to convince the guy in the bar you said to give us more drinks.
There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?
Tyson: Led Zeppelin - Earls Court 1975… Because Led Zep rule!
Eduardo: Deep Purple, 'Made in Japan'
Matt: Stevie Ray Vaughan – Live At The El Mocambo
You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the one musician most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?
Tyson: Bruce Dickinson - He's a pilot and can come pick us up.
Eduardo: Robert Johnson – “Get me a place close to you, see you soon”
Matt: Klaus Meine – “Hey I’m here on that island without a name you used to spend on holiday”
You've been stuck here for a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?
Tyson: I can't do it… we all die.
Eduardo: All or nothing, is how it goes!
Matt: I am chubby so I would definitely sacrifice myself. At least the boys would have enough food for a year or more.
Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?
Tyson: John Lennon - I love the Beatles and Lennon's solo stuff the most.
Eduardo: Bon Scott – so much stuff to talk about. I love ACDC early days.
Matt: Kurt Cobain – he inspires and influences me till nowadays.
Sadly there is no room on our boat, so we have to leave them on the beach waving our goodbyes as we sail away from the island. Hopefully someone comes to their rescue soon!
