E.P. Review: Bludgeoned - Summary Execution

Following a digital single released in 2019 the Shelton, Washington three piece Bludgeoned are set to unleash their debut E.P. Summary Execution via the Vile Tapes label. The band whose members already have an extremely fine list of recent musical accomplishments within the brutal death metal scene set to embark on showcasing a display of no holds barred primitive brutality which takes you back to the 94-03 period, a time which is not discussed enough but in my opinion the time when death metal was at its peak.
Following its opening instrumental track Summary Execution opens with a barbaric sonic assault of vicious brutal death metal. Going straight for you it instantly catches your attention, the raw and aggressive battery of the guitars of Sean May and drums of Nikhil Talwwalker have a real Brodequin and Disgorge (US) sound and feeling from the very start as the band unleash track after track of audio assault.
The slams and utterly filthy grooves used by Bludgeoned are executed with severe precision, with track after track containing shattering brutal grooves which are smashed directly into your ear drums. Finishing off this release is the utterly putrid “Pale Horse” which oozes with a savage and violent velocity throughout its duration. Frontman Jonathan Huber who’s past work includes Pathology & I Declare War to name but a few, releases a display of guttural viciousness, which would hold its own among the most putrid in the game.
Although a short release at thirteen and a half minutes, Summary Execution is packed with stellar riffs and utterly savage song writing. It’s ferocious brutality combined with catchy grooves will have fans of brutal riffs and blast beats reminiscing of the golden years of brutal death metal while foaming at the mouth eagerly waiting for more which I am confident that Bludgeoned will be able to provide.
