Stonedead Festival Announce First Bands for 2023
With an ethos of ‘built by music fans, for music fans’, Stonedead has become a much loved and highly anticipated event in the yearly calendar, a true family that comes together to celebrate the self-same spirit that brought us the world-changing Monsters of Rock Festival. Whilst every year hears the sad demise of such e vents, Stonedead just keeps on growing but always keeps its eyes on the people who matter most: the ticket buyer.
The team at Stonedeaf Productions Ltd work miracles bringing together the very best event they can and it’s their passion and attention to detail that has seen this festival become one of the most respected by both bands and music business insiders. Stonedead will celebrate its fifth year of existence in 2023 and the line -up is the strongest and most diverse yet, mixing brilliant veteran bands with red-hot newcomers, all topped off by a genuinely legendary act known to millions all over the globe. With advance tickets selling out well in advance and Early Bird tickets for 2023 selling out in record time even before the line-up has been announced, it’s looking like a very special year.
Giving something for everyone, Stonedead are proud to reveal the bands booked to appear for their 2023 event and with two more acts to be confirmed, including the winners of the opening poll, it’s looking like an absolute monster.
Headlining the show, Stonedead are beyond thrilled to say that the legendary giants of rock Blue Öyster Cult will be joining everyone at the Newark Showground. One of the most influential bands on the planet, the New Yorkers have always brought a fresh approach to their intelligent and hard rocking catalogue, selling in excess of twenty-five million albums in the process. Best known for the track that made them a household name, the ubiquitous ‘(Don’t Fear) The Reaper’, the quintet have enjoyed a five-decade career that has seen them selling out stadiums and producing fifteen thrilling albums from their eponymous debut to the most recent smash ‘The Symbol Remains’. Critically acclaimed and adored by music lovers all over the globe, Blue Öyster Cult never fail to deliver a show like no other and when you’ve got solid gold dizzbusters like ‘Godzilla’, ‘Burning for You’ and ‘Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll’ you just know it's going to be something very special indeed.
Joining them, is a pair of the finest bands ever to come from Northern Ireland in the form of Therapy? and The Answer. Punk metallers Therapy? have been laying waste to audiences and breaking down barriers for thirty -three years now, playing their own incendiary brand of spiky rock music to countless hundreds of thousands worldwide. With shows everywhere from the smallest of clubs to the stages of Donington and a hugely successful album in ‘Troublegum’ the band broke through into the public consciousness and has stayed there ever since. Taking a different musical route, The Answer are soaked in a bluesy hard rock that takes all the best elements of the classic bands of the 70’s and brings them together in an irresistible package that burns with a passionate soul. Having shared stages with the likes of Whitesnake, the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith and The Who, it was the dream come true of being asked to open for AC/DC on the giants Black Ice World Tour that saw them play in stadiums for a two year stretch, pushing them firmly into the spotlights glare. Following a hiatus, the band are back and determined to make up for lost time and are guaranteed to be a huge hit at Stonedead.
Also on the bill are phenomenal blues rockers King King, a band renowned for making each show a celebration of all that is good in music. Treating audience members like family, singer/guitarist Alan Nimmo and his merry band have built up a fiercely loyal following and the stellar quality of their albums has seen them rise and rise in the scene. With an arena tour with Thunder and countless awards under their belts, it’s obvious that King King are built to last and the party they’ll bring to Newark will be an opportunity to dance like crazy.
With the red-hot trio of soon to be supernova bands Glasgow’s modern hard rockers Mason Hill, Bournemouth’s melodic sleaze goth merchants South of Salem and explosive and dazzling Canadian, 80’s Sunset Strip power trio Deraps also playing you can be sure it’s going to be a classic year.
