Bloodstock 2022: Introducing - Apollyon
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and Jägermeister stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Apollyon!
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Apollyon: We are Apollyon, a 3-piece metal powerhouse from the “jewel” in the North Wests’ crown – Ellesmere Port. It’s really not a bad place outside of the few days a month where our oil refinery and sewage treatment plant join forces to make the entire town smell like literal shit 🙂
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your style of metal?
Apollyon: Fast and aggressive thrash first and foremost – although we definitely have touches of other styles such as melodic death metal and prog, especially in our most recent EP, which is in the process of getting mixed and mastered as we speak – keep your ears peeled!
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Apollyon: We won our place by winning the M2TM North Wales competition this year.
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Apollyon: It means a lot – BOA is a world class metal festival, one we’ve come to as fans many times in the past. So to get to play here and show people what we’re about is a real honour.
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Apollyon: They can expect to see a wall to wall set of belters, played in a tight as fuck fashion, and at a gratifyingly fast tempo. We’ve been working our arses off ironing out all of the kinks in our live show, improving every aspect we can think of – and we’re really proud of what we’ve been delivering live this year
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Apollyon: We’re playing on Sunday on the New Blood stage, and we’ll be able to announce our set time on Monday the 8th of August (see our Facebook page via https://linktr.ee/apollyonhq) – come and check us out, you won’t regret it!
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Apollyon: There’s just too many to list, but some highlights would have to be Testament, Exodus, Mercyful Fate, Venom Inc. – and I’m sure there’ll be plenty of nice surprises on the New Blood stage throughout the weekend.
The Razor's Edge: Playing the Jägermeister Stage is just the first stepping stone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Apollyon: The next step is us releasing a new self-titled EP, which contains the best four tracks we’ve written to date, and signals the start of a faster, more technical direction for us as a band.
We’ve got very high hopes for this one based on what has happened in the studio, and how the tracks have been received live. Once it’s out there in the wild we’re looking to book some more high profile gigs, get the EP heard as far and wide as possible, write some more bangers, and just keep on improving in every way we can.
The Razor's Edge: See you at Bloodstock!
Apollyon: Thanks for talking to us - see you there!
