Bloodstock Bound: Bloodmores

Bloodstock Bound: Bloodmores

As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and Jägermeister stages at this years event.

Today we chat with Bloodmores!

The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.

Bloodmores: My name is Alex Cunliffe, and I'm the guitarist/vocalist of the band Bloodmores. We are comprised of myself, our lead guitarist Richard Jodrell, our bass player Rik Simpson, and our drummer Chris Mansell.

The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your style of metal?

Bloodmores: Some people call us thrash, others call us melodic death metal. I'd say we're somewhere in-between the two, incorporating elements of both to create out sound.

The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?

Bloodmores: We won this year's Metal 2 The Masses competition in Stoke.

The Razor's Edge: How tough was the competition this year?

Bloodmores: As fierce as always. We were playing with some amazing bands, and we were fully prepared for one of them to claim the Stoke winner's spot instead of us, so it was such an amazing feeling when our name was called out at the end of the final night.

The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?

Bloodmores: We've been going to Bloodstock for years. We've seen so many of our favourite bands there, so to be joining their ranks is an incredible feeling, and we absolutely can't wait to hit the stage on the Saturday.

The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?

Bloodmores: Very high energy from the four of us throughout our set, with a solid mixture of shredding solos, heavy breakdowns, pounding blast beats, and plenty of opportunities to open up the pit.

The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?

Bloodmores: Saturday 12th August on the New Blood Stage.

The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?

Bloodmores: I'm excited to catch In Flames, Killswitch Engage, Heaven Shall Burn, and Gatecreeper, as well as our friends in Daybreaker, who are performing on the Jägermeister stage. We've played with them a few times before, so it'll be great to see them again.

Richard is looking forward to seeing Megadeth, Killswitch Engage, Ugly Kid Joe, Lokust, and In Flames.

For Rik it's In Flames, Tryptikon performing Celtic Frost, Megadeth, Repulsive Vision, Candlemass, Meshuggah, and Sepultura.

Chris is most hyped for Meagdeth, Killswitch Engage, In Flames, Sepultura, Meshuggah, Tortured Demon, Bloodyard, and also Daybreaker.

The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?

Bloodmores: We'll be staying in the artist camping area, but we all have friends attending the festival, so we'll be hanging out with them, probably in Midgard, when we're not in the arena.

The Razor's Edge: You’ve gotta keep hydrated at Bloodstock, what is your drink of choice for the weekend?

Bloodmores: Before our set, and especially while we're on stage, it's strictly just water for me, but afterwards, when we're hanging out and watching other bands, cider is my usual go-to.

Richard will be on vodka with lemonade while we're in the arena, but while we're in the campsites he'll be on the festival staple of lukewarm beer straight from our bags.

Rik's says “always beer” but after our recent trip to Cheddar Gorge, while we were on tour with Betray The Throne, I happen to know that he's partial to a Scrumpy too.

For Chris it will be either lager or Morgan's spiced with lemonade.

The Razor's Edge: See you at Bloodstock next week!

Bloodmores: You certainly will, and we can't wait!
