DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Follow Me Dark

Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we find Follow Me Dark sat on the beach. The island is far from their home, so how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil's Island?

Find out now...

Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.

You're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?

Jim: 'Angels in the Flesh and Devils in the Bone', because it's a concept album that tells a story that I can relate to. I can listen to the entire album beginning to end without skipping any tracks.

Sean: Minus the Bear’s 'Planet of Ice' because it “is an outlier in the discography of the band, a hidden gem.

Elliott: 'Lateralus', I have a shit load of respect for the focused effort it takes to write songs of this caliber. It's a perfect showcase of the talent each member possesses individually, and proves to me that taking your art seriously and taking your time with it can achieve great results.

Stephen: Smashing Pumpkins 'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness as it shows a great band stretching themselves to the absolute limit and delivering a truly remarkable work of genius. Also I love the sonics - a brilliant mix of raw, edgy rock with elaborate production and sonic variety.

Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?

Elliott: I'm gonna stick with 'Lateralus' by Tool, Alex Grey was the first to inspire me wanting to get tattoos. I hang his calendar on my ceiling. The figure on the cover seems so calm. Like he's content just being.,it's relaxing. And I love his use of colour.

Sean: Deftones’ 'Diamond Eyes', Owls are majestic creatures, perfect for a majestic album.

Stephen: Led Zeppelin’s 'Houses of the Holy', simply iconic, otherworldly and perfectly composed.

Jim: The Beatles’ white album for its simplicity.

There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?

Jim: Hendricks gin

Stephen: Bourbon on the rocks

Elliott: Beer, hopefully IPA, hopefully Sculpin

Sean: San Pellegrino

Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?

Jim: King Diamond hoodie

Elliott: Bo Burnham INSIDE tour T shirt

Stephen: Limp Bizkit thong

Sean: Banana Dan Jam Band bandana

You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?

Jim: Elon Musk

Stephen: Quentin Tarantino

Elliott: Shakira

Sean: Wilson

There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?

Elliott: a Tool show

Sean: Pantera, no dates specified or needed.

Stephen: I'm reminded of the 2019 show Mogwai did in Sacramento.

Jim: The broadway rendition of 'The Phantom of the Opera'.

You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?

Elliott: Will Ramos

Jim: Prince

Sean: Dimebag Darrell

Stephen: Keith Richards

You've been stuck here for a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?

Stephen: Jim as he takes good care of himself - low toxins.

Elliott: Sean, if it were anyone else Sean wouldn't share.

Sean: Elliott, cuz he's coming for me!

Jim: I would have to cut a sample from each member to see who had the best marbling, and go from there.

Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?

Jim: Mike Portnoy

Stephen: Billy Corgan

Elliott: Maynard James Keenan

Sean: Dimebag Darrell
