DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring Shiva May Care

DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Shiva May Care

Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we find Shiva May Care sat on the beach. The island is far from their home, so how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil's Island?

Find out now...

Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.

You're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?

Ilias: the Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, it's simply the best record ever, there's everything you need.

Jake: Whenever You Need Somebody by Rick Astley - So that I could Rick-roll my band mates frequently throughout the voyage.

Jetlag: Outlandos d'amour by the police. It's not only one of the greatest albums ever made. I Would also have the chance to play the Roxanne drinking game, too bad I only have coconuts at my disposal.

Molly: Dying Surfer meets its maker by All Them Witches. The album is like a spiritual journey, I'll never get bored of it. And also,it's about nearly being lost to the ocean so is pretty on topic after getting shipwrecked

Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?

Ilias: Sigur Ros - Agætis byrjuny, because it was first poster in room and the first album it got me into post rock

Jake: the White Album, by the Beatles, it really speaks to me...

Jetlag: Legacy of Brutality by The Misfits, it walked me through my teenage years.

Molly: Load by Metallica, it's cool, if you know what it is, I mean, semen and blood.

There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?

Ilias: Aranciata sanpellegrino.

Jake: water, categorically, what am I, stupid?!

Jetlag: Bushmills, to wash out the coconut water and finally play the Roxanne drinking game... I'm joking, I'm not really a drinker. I'm a new age hippy, everybody knows that. Wheatgrass juice, please.

Molly: Big fan of sour beer, but most importantly, is the bartender hot?

Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?

Ilias: Deftones t-shirt.

Jake: Farfisa t-shirt, psych-rock from Manchester

Jetlag: Ramones t-shirt all the way.

Molly: Shape of Water vibrator, it exists, I've seen it.

You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?

Ilias: my mom.

Jake: Ilias' mom.

Jetlag: Mel Brooks.

Molly: I got the bartender, I'm good...

Devil's Island featuring Shiva May Care

There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?

Ilias: Pink Floyd, live in Pompeii!

Jake: Jimmy Hendrix, Woodstock.

Jetlag: Iggy Pop, the first ever live show I have seen, I was 14.

Molly: Radiohead In Rainbows, live from the Basement.

You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?

Ilias: Tommy Lee, the guy has a yacht.
Jake: Dave Grohl, he is very sweet, he would help for sure!
Jetlag: Bruce Dickinson, he has a fricking airplane.
Molly: Sting, enter Police joke here _________.

You've been stuck here a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?

Jake: me, because the black guy dies first. I learnt that from the movies.

Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?

Ilias: John Bohnam.

Jake: Rick Astley, obviously.

Jetlag: Nicke Borg, from Backyard Babies.

Molly: Alice Cooper, hands down.
