Following the band's debut EP exploring the mind of the depraved (The Killing Quartet part 1 - Reflection of Murder) Between the Killings have crafted and are bringing part two of the series (Omnipotence) and their twisted brutal death metal has only one thing on its mind, which is only the most foul and violent acts of murder. Keeping with the theme of this second edition the band have gone with the same graphic novel type artwork which I really loved with the first EP it had a type of Tales From the Crypt/Creepshow vibe and it looks really cool.

Onto the music, now Between the Killings is a veteran group of musicians who are all very accomplished in what they do, but I hear so much growth in this second EP. The tracks have better flow, the harmonies are much better and work a lot better when off set with the sheer brutality and there is an instance on part one where tracks finish quite abruptly, on part two you don't get this. The overall sound is also bigger, nastier and elevates the overall song writing on the EP to another level.

The guitar tone is far heavier, yet they don't lose the riff, the drums are absolutely menacing as they run riot and the vocals are just straight up putrid without being just a wall of noise. You are really hearing the band grow and come into their own. With all the improvements in the background of the EP, what are you getting at the front? What you are getting is a powerful slab of death metal where the band brings a nice measure of straight up brutality and a really solid technical flare. You get hard hitting riffs that will just bludgeon you and then you get met in the next instance with a really expertly executed piece of more technical playing and it all meshes extremely well.

Bigger, nastier and alot more for your money. That's what Between the Killings give you on The Killing Quartet Part 2 - Omnipotence and if the band continue this upward trajectory then I really can't wait for chapter number 3.
