Slump, Kill the Witch and Robust Team Up For Nirvana Tribute
Slump, Kill the Witch and Robust announce "Bleached" tribute split to Nirvana
On 15th June 1989, a little known Seattle band called Nirvana released their first album, titled 'Bleach'. Recorded for just over $606 by Jack Endino, it became the highest selling album on the Sub Pop record label and preceded Nirvana's rise to fame with 1991's 'Nevermind' before the untimely death of their songwriter, Kurt Cobain, in 1994.
On 15th June 2024, UK stoner act Slump will pay tribute to the 35th anniversary of the release of 'Bleach' with the release of a studio version of the Nirvana song 'School', a live staple in their setlist. They're joined by Stafford sludge metallers Kill the Witch, with a punishing cover of 'Dive', as well as Robust, a four-piece from Sofia, Bulgaria, with their haunting rendition of 'Negative Creep'.
The three-way split 'Bleached' will raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Metal For Good and Macmillan Cancer Support charities when purchased on Slump's Bandcamp.
Says Matt, the guitarist in Slump and organiser of the project,
"Nirvana were my favourite band as a teenager so I'm really excited to put this out as a small tribute to them. Each of the three covers have seen us all put our own spin on the songs, and it's a great opportunity for us to get behind some good causes with this release!"
