Bloodstock Bound: MAB
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and EMP stages at this years event.
Today we chat with MAB
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
MAB: Hi, I’m PJ (Alice), and I’m the singer/bass player for MAB. My bandmates are Jessica on drums, and Marina and Lisa on guitars.
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your sound?
MAB: Loud! We are very loud, haha! Well, to be more precise our sound has been dubbed New Dark in the 00s: a mixture of metal and goth with stretches of eerie operatic atmospheres. It's like suddenly finding yourself lost in the woods of Little Red Riding Hood, where instead of watching out for the wolf, in the end you discover that you’d better stay away from Little Red Riding Hood
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
MAB: We were looking for an important stage that could be suitable for our music and that would give us the opportunity to play in front of an audience in line with our sound. So our manager presented our music to the organizers, they liked it, and they offered us a slot.
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
MAB: Bloodstock is a fantastic new beginning for us. We are very excited and can't wait to perform in front of such a top quality audience on a prestigious stage. Following our recent reunion after a 15 year break, playing Bloodstock means a lot to us. It is both a challenge and a reward. We've played many festivals in the past years, but this one really fits our music. It will be our occasion to reach potential fans who may not know us and who may appreciate what we do. We are looking forward to meeting them!
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
MAB: Expect a wall of sound! We'll bring our New Dark to the stage at full force, both sonically and emotionally. We're definitely going to have fun, and we hope you'll feel our energy. We'll give it everything we've got, as hard as we can!
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
MAB: We’ll be performing on Friday the 9th of August on the EMP stage
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
MAB: We're really looking forward to seeing OPETH and ENSLAVED.
The Razor's Edge: Playing the EMP Stage is just the first steppingstone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
MAB: It really is indeed, and we appreciate how big this is. We're focused on writing new material, right now, and can't wait to share our new songs with the world. Our plan is to play live as much as possible, reaching new audiences and bringing our music to the right ears. We’re excited about the future and ready to take the world by storm!
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
MAB: No, we won’t be camping unfortunately as we have early flights to catch from London the very next day.
The Razor's Edge: It’s festival weekend, what’s your food vendor of choice on site?
MAB: We are really looking forward to trying them all to be honest! We really like our food so we’d certainly be queuing up the stalls. Our drummer has to avoid gluten, though, so we hope there will be options for her too because she’s really greedy!! Haha.
