The Rattlebacks: The Songs That Influenced Us
Unstoppable Brit hard rockers, THE RATTLEBACKS, spanking new album, Sidewinder, drops on Friday 15th November. The formidable rock crew have also just released their killer new single and video, Waste. With the band on the rise, we caught up with Jack "The Hell" Hollamby (bass) and asked him for the top five songs that have greatly influenced him:
Dirty Little Thing - Velvet Revolver
The fast paced, high energy rock that is Velvet Revolver, is fundamentally what The Rattlebacks was founded on. Dirty Little Thing's energy was something we really tried to embody when writing songs like "Gods." It's just straight up Rock 'n' Roll.
Blood and Thunder - Mastodon
Blood and Thunder, took us in a different direction, being a huge inspiration that mixes a kind of thrashy sound with a darker undertone. Songs such as "Lady in Wait" and "Dementia Lounge" have that same atmosphere within their sound scape, as well as the fast open note chug riffs.
Barbarian - The Darkness
Barbarian tells a story in such a compelling way, while having one of the best rock riffs written in the last 10 years. The Darkness have always been a huge inspiration for pretty much all of us in The Rattlebacks!
18 and Life - Skid Row
18 and Life is one of the most heartfelt and powerful ballads in Rock. When we wrote 'Behind You', we had experienced some world shattering news. We bonded together and found solace in the best way we knew how. We write emotional music and love songs.
Check My Brain - Alice in Chains
Check My Brain is a RIFF!! It's dark, eerie and packs a huge punch when the song kicks in. Alice in Chains have very much inspired us from song writing, riffs and vocal harmonies, they do it like no other and we can only take inspiration from such mastery."
