DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Kingsfoil
Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.
This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we find Kingsfoil sat on the beach. The island is far from their home, so how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil's Island?
Find out now...
Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.
You're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?
Tim: Daydream Anonymous – InMe. I keep returning to this album again and again. It has an array of rock songs, some softer singalongs, and some incredible riffs and vocal moments. Very energising and inspirational. Underrated from the perspective of the band’s full works.
Ant: The Last in Line – Dio. Banger after banger, and how much more epic can you get than Dio?
Sully: The Number of the Beast – Iron Maiden. Same as Ant really – how could you live without the tracks on one of the most famous metal albums in history?
Mikey: Live and Dangerous – Thin Lizzy. Great track listing, wonderful live vibes. Reminds me of socialising. If I’m stuck on a desert island I want a reason to come through it and get back to civilisation..
Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?
Tim: Alter Bridge, Walk The Sky. I think it’s an epic visualise, bright and uplifting. The album is great too.
Ant: Tenacious D self titled debut album. It’s just iconic.
Sully: I can’t think of anything so let’s go cliché to annoy everyone else stuck on this island with me. Nevermind by Nirvana.
Mikey: I can’t think of anything either. Dark Side of the Moon is pretty iconic. Maybe I’d go for This Land by Gary Clarke Jr.. Very artsy.
There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?
Tim: Long Island Iced Tea
Ant: Badger brewery’s Milk Stout
Sully: Zombies
Mikey: Tanglefoot Ale
Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?
Tim: Our very own Kingsfoil hoodies. They’re sooo comfortable! Seriously, you gotta try one for yourselves.
You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?
Tim: Literally anyone else. Nah, to be honest some sort of survivalist expert but they’d probably have me drinking my own urine before long so that could backfire horribly.
Ant: Three sturdy and industrious dwarven engineers. We’d build a ship in no time or tunnel our way off the island.
Sully: The Rock, Stone Cold and John Cena. We could wrestle to stay warm.
Mikey: The ghosts of Jimi Hendrix, Prince and Stevie Ray Vaughan so we could talk guitars all day.
There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?
Tim: I went to see Alter Bridge live at the O2 once and I was blown away by the atmosphere and the flawlessness of their live performance. I could watch that on repeat.
Ant: The Dio memorial show when he was inducted into the Hall of Fame after he passed away.
Sully: Live Aid in 85
Mikey: Can’t top Live Aid
You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?
Tim: Sting from the Police. Surely he’d understand the importance of a Message In a Bottle.
You've been stuck here a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?
Tim: Mikey
Ant: Mikey
Sully: Mikey
Mikey: ……*sigh*…….me ☹
Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?
Tim: Dave McPherson
Ant: Dio
Sully: Bruce Dickinson
Mikey: Bon Jovi
