DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring Frequency Overload

DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Frequency Overload

Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we find Frequency Overload sat on the beach. The island is far from their home, so how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil's Island?

Find out now...

Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.

You're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?

Kevin Daily (drums): Tool -Lateralus, a masterpiece from the first note, a musical roller coaster of awesomeness with incredible inspirational drumming

Mr. Bush (vocals): Carnivore-Retaliation-This album was a catharsis for me. The time in my life where I was searching for an identity in music. I went on to many bands and in one band we covered the classic “Inner Conflict”!

Steve Little (bass): Meatloaf-Bat Out Of Hell-This album really propelled me to pursue music and it was an epic album start to finish

Corey Schaefer (guitar): Van Halen-Fair Warning, It goes with a desert isle!

Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?

Kevin: Would be something from Iron Maiden most likely....maybe seventh son of a seventh son

Mr. Bush: DRI-Dealing With It. I love the cartoon engagement and imagery of the songs reflected in the artwork.

Steve Little: Pantera-vulgar Display Of Power-because everyone needs a punch in the face once in a while

Corey Schaefer: Megadeth-Holy Wars! Epic art, great album.

There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?

Kevin: I am sober 6 years so I say coffee.

Mr. Bush: I will have to go with diet Dr. Pepper. Always been a favourite and being in recovery from drugs and alcohol for 19 years now, it's the hardest I go!

Steve: As long as there are so nice hazy IPAs I'm a happy guy

Corey: Corona with a lime, fitting for an island.

Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?

Kevin: Slayer board shorts, I used to have them and will probably be doing alot of swimming

Mr. Bush: My long sleeve T-Shirt from Life Of Agony’s 30 anniversary of the Album “River Runs Red”. It was hand delivered to me by none other than Joey Z, from Life Of Agony!

Steve: Metallica hat! keep the sun from burning my head.

Corey: Megadeth hoodie, cover me up in case of foul weather.

You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?

Kevin: Is my wife reading this? I would have to say her.

Mr. Bush: My Wife, because that is who makes me whole.

Steve: My dog so i can cuddle at night.

Corey: My wife.

There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?

Kevin: Pantera - Live 101 Proof

Mr. Bush: SOD - Live at Budokan

Steve: Tool - Fear Inoculum. I was at the first show of that tour.

Corey: Judas Priest - At the Nassau Coliseum

You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?

Kevin: Bruce Dickinson, That mf has his own plane

Mr. Bush: The motor city madman himself, Ted Nugent! He is a renowned survivalist!

Steve: I piggyback with Kevin! Bruce Dickinson!

Corey: Bruce has plenty of room and can use a pontoon plane!

You've been stuck here a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?

Kevin: I would suicide so my band can eat me

Mr. Bush: I say Steve! He looks delicious! He certainly has nice legs for roasting!

Steve: I thank Kevin for sacrificing himself, and will dine on his ass.

Corey: Mr. Bush, he's large and tasty

Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?

Kevin: Hmm, I would have to say Vinnie Paul, I actually met him once in Vegas at an Alice in Chains show, I told him how Pantera saved metal and he said hell yea! Would be cool too hear Pantera stories and double bass drumming technique

Mr. Bush: Big Pete Steele from Carnivore/Type O Negative. His writing has helped me shape a different lens on life and song structure.

Steve: Steve Harris-Iron Maiden's ground breaking bassist.

Corey: Eddie Van Halen-His guitar work and innovation changed music for me.
