Portals Festival To Be Last In Current Form
Portals Festival 2025 will be the last Portals Festival in its current form.
Portals is a passion project and a labour of love. We have poured our hearts and souls into the festival since 2017 when we first conceived the idea, but we have made the difficult decision that 2025 will be the last time for the foreseeable future the festival will be in its current format.
We, as individuals, do not pay ourselves for our work towards Portals; we have full-time jobs elsewhere. The thousands of hours we pour into the event each year are voluntary. We always pay our freelancers, artists, and suppliers a fair rate for their services, and we have strived to keep the ticket prices affordable.
However, the current state of the events industry, price increases, uncertainty on ticket sales, lack of support from the government, and ultimately the financial risk of putting on an event of this size has brought us to the point where the festival is not financially viable in its current form.
Portals, as a promotions company, is not going anywhere
We will continue to book shows and all-dayers. We are in talks to promote some of our biggest and most exciting shows to date.
When we started Portals, we had ambitions:
- Bring together a community of like-minded people and create a space for them to feel comfortable experiencing live music together.
- Help people discover their new favourite band.
- Give bands the opportunity to play in front of enthusiastic and receptive audiences.
We will never stop trying to achieve these and we hope that you will stick with us. We want to thank all our incredible staff, volunteers, partners, venues, artists, and you, our audience, for coming along for the ride.
Our first Portals show was a small all-dayer in a pub in 2015. We never in a million years thought we would be able to grow it to a 1200 capacity festival, with performances from some of our favourite bands of all-time.
Please join us one last time for a festival celebrating incredible music from ground-breaking artists from all over the world.
