DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Our North
Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.
This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we find Our North sat on the beach. The island is far from their home, so how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil's Island?
Find out now...
Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.
You're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?
Jonny: The theme track to Tarzan. Banger after banger and I'd feel like Tarzan on the island.
Chris Harrison: Saturday Night Fever motion picture soundtrack. By the Bee Gees “Stayin’ Alive” to keep the motivation high whilst I am slowly dying of heat exhaustion.
Dan: Green Day Nimrod, the album that got me into punk rock and also encouraged me to start play guitar
Sam: What is with these movie soundtracks? Fuck it, Slayer, Reign in Blood.
Chris Hepworth: collision course - JayZ : Linkin park
Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?
Jonny: Probably a Sabrina Carpenter one with her on? Don't judge. Man's got needs.
Chris Harrison: Vengaboys The Party Album banger after banger.
Dan: Blink 182 Enema of the State
Chris Hepworth: Pablo Cruise, Lifeline
Sam: Butchered at birth by Cannibal Corpse. Hopefully it'll put the other lads off their food and I can get more.
There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?
Jonny: Cider. Any. If it has to be one though, I'll go with strongbow dark fruits.
Chris Harrison: Jack & coke.
Dan: Punk IPA brewdog
Sam: I'll take a whisky sour please. Can't get bored of that.
Chris Hepworth: Cup of tea
Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?
Jonny: Genuinely had to think about merch that wasn't your standard clothing. Not getting the weird Rammstein stuff... Probably the monopoly that Metallica released? Pass the time? Kill each other quicker?
Chris Harrison: Some kind of Whisky tumbler. Pretty sure Rammstein actually released some but a custom RATM would be cool… might have to put that on my Xmas list now.
Dan: My Mad Caddies 2018 European tour t shirt
Sam: I've got some slipknot boxers. I'll just walk about in those.
Chris Hepworth: My Polaris hoody
You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?
Jonny: Either a survival expert or an attractive woman. With both options, urine would not be drunk (sorry Bear Grylls).
Chris Harrison: Some kind of survival expert like Rambo. Or Arnold……”Get to the CHOPPER”!!!!
Dan: Probs Post Malone, the guys seems really chill, plus we could maybe write some songs together
Sam: I should say the Mrs really. But she'd be rubbish in survival mode especially if the sun's out, she burns on a cloudy day.
Chris Hepworth: My Cocker Spaniel - Zeus

There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?
Jonny: Live shows are going to have to be Linkin Park at any point with Chester. Just takes me back to when I first started getting into heavier music.
Chris Harrison: Hell is for heroes live DVD or Alexisonfire.
Dan: Mad Caddies Live in Toronto (songs in the key of Eh)
Sam: Slipknot 2009 Download headline set. Unbelievable.
Chris Hepworth: Rage Against The Machine, Live at Finsbury Park 2010,
You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?
Jonny: Alex the terrible from Slaughter to Prevail for me. The guy bare knuckle fights and is an animal. I'd assume he'd take the challenge to rescue us.
Chris Harrison: Chris Jericho from Fozzy hahaha.
Dan: Liam Gallagher from Oasis, no nonsense attitude
Sam: Yea I'm with Jonny here. The man wrestles bears and tigers.
Chris Hepworth: Lemmy from Motörhead
You've been stuck here a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?
Jonny: Straight away I'd go for Chris (Bass) he's a vegan so it's grass fed meat. No impurities or anything and he probably wouldn't want to eat us.
Chris Harrison: Def not Chris Hep not enough meat on him. Jonny for sure he’s like a gentle giant meat for months.
Dan: what Chris said
Sam: Jonny will be the first one dead anyway so might as well eat him.
Chris Hepworth: Jonny has Diabetes so lots of sugar in him.
Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?
Jonny: My greatest influence drumming wise was the drum teacher I had at university. Toni Canelli (r.i.p) was not only a great teacher but he made me think about how I should drum to certain songs. He was a very chill and very intelligent guy that honestly was the only bit of uni I thought was worth it.
Chris Harrison: My dad, he is the one who really got me interested in guitar and obviously has influenced me enormously as a human and a player.
Dan: Fat Mike from NOFX
Sam: Greatest inspiration from a vocal standpoint is probably Matt Heafy from Trivium. The man puts so much work in.
Chris Hepworth: Sam Rivers, Limp Bizkit - great creative bassist ! And groovy as fuck
