Bloodstock Bound: Nothing Speaks
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and EMP stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Nothing Speaks
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Nothing Speaks: We are Nothing Speaks a grunge band hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland comprising of Blair Allison the drummer, Joe Gillan the bassist, Evan Hunter, the lead singer and rhythm guitar player and Zak Costello on lead guitar and backing vocals.
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your sound?
Nothing Speaks: What we play is grunge infused heavy metal using heavy breakdowns, intricate riffs and catchy melodies.
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Nothing Speaks: We landed our spot at Bloodstock by winning Scotland’s Metal 2 the Masses, for us this process was such a cool experience, to play with so many different bands from around Scotland and see the talent that is out there was eye-opening for us.
The Razor's Edge: How tough was the M2TM competition this year?
Nothing Speaks: The competition this year was extremely hard, there were so many great bands playing a wide range of different genres. We really were unsure how far we would make it. Especially the final, the other bands that took part were extremely talented.
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Nothing Speaks: Playing a blood stock for us genuinely means the world we have looked up to this festival since we started playing our instruments and to be on the same bill as bands we’ve listened to for many years is just the most exciting thing ever.
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Nothing Speaks: Our Music provides people with headbanging riffs, soaring guitar solos and vocal melodies that will be stuck in your head for days to come.

The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Nothing Speaks: We are performing on the Saturday.
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Nothing Speaks: Some bands in particular, we are really excited to see are Gojira, Trivum, Mastodon and all of the other New Blood stage bands.
The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first steppingstone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Nothing Speaks: We would love to be the band that can come back and then play the Sophie Lancaster stage, we really want to use Bloodstock as a momentum boost for our band's journey and then continue to keep moving for bigger shows
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
Nothing Speaks: We would love to camp with the fans, however since the capacity of the festival has reached its cap, we will be camping in the artist campsite.
The Razor's Edge: You’ve gotta keep hydrated at Bloodstock, what is your drink of choice for the weekend?
Nothing Speaks: As a band I think we collectively drink enough monster that we should really be sponsored however we are all pretty boring so probably just water.
