DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring Insonika

DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Insonika

Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we find Insonika sat on the beach. The island is far from their home, so how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil's Island?

Find out now...

Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.

You're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?

Oscar - Metallica’s …And Justice For All. This was THE album that got me into metal and also the first metal album I ever owned.

Daniel - Argus by Wishbone Ash. I listen to a bit of everything when it comes to heavy music, but with that album you can hear the foundation of it.

Sebastian - Karnivool’s Sound Awake. Simply because you notice something different every time you listen to it.

Simon - Far Beyond Driven - Pantera … the production on this album never fails to amazing me. The time it came out, and the songwriting was just amazing.

Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?

Oscar - I would choose Ghost’s Meliora, it is a masterpiece of an album artwork.

Daniel - Blue Öyster Cult's Spectres

Sebastian - Iron Maiden’s The Trooper because it’s such cool artwork.

Simon - Porcupine Tree in Absentia. I see something new in this picture all the time.

There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?

Oscar - I would choose an Old Fashioned!

Daniel - Gin & Tonic

Sebastian - Margarita

Simon - Blacktooth Grin

Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?

Oscar - Viagra Boys’ Endless Anxiety t-shirt

Daniel - First edition of Megadeth's Killing Is My Business shirt.

Sebastian - Iron Maiden’s Somewhere Back In Time tour shirt

Simon - Red hot Chilli Peppers hat… which i bought while watching James Brown

You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?

Oscar - I would rather be stranded with Lemmy or Ozzy Osbourne

Daniel - LG-Petrov, he seems like a cool dude

Sebastian - The band VOLA

Simon - Dime and Vinnie

DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Insonika

There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?

Oscar - VOLA live from The Pool

Daniel - Rush Exit Stage Left

Sebastian - Metallica live in San Diego 1992

Simon - Chick Corea- Vigilette JAZZ NIGHT IN AMERICA

You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?

Oscar - Hmm… That’s a tough one, I feel like Dave Grohl would be a good choice? He seems like a crafty bastard!

Daniel - Ozzy Osbourne, he'd tell all sorts of crazy stories and you wouldn't notice you were stranded

Sebastian - I would definitely choose Bruce Dickinson, since he’s a pilot!

Simon - THUNDERCAT …. just….THUNDERCAT

You've been stuck here a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?

Simon immediately said “take my legs then” so there's the answer!

Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?

Oscar - James Hetfield, when it comes to riffwriting he is just the man.

Daniel - Always Geezer Butler.

Sebastian - Hans Zimmer, his genius is unmatched when it comes to arrangements and music in general.

Simon - Gavin Harrison of Porcupine tree deffo did something to my brain
