Swiss modern metallers OPHELIA’S EYE return with a vengeance, announcing the release of their towering new EP, Severance, arriving Friday. We exclusively spoke to the band and asked them to give us this track by track breakdown of the record:
Enter the Arena
We have become spectators of our own downfall. Craving the spectacle, cheering for blood. "Enter the Arena" is a savage mirror of our addiction to violence and validation, a haunting reflection of a world that turns suffering into entertainment. As we feed the machine with our silence, this track rips through the illusion: it is time to choose: Become the pawn or break the game.
Disconnected
We built the cage ourselves. Disconnected is a visceral reckoning with the consequences of good intentions gone wrong. The system wasn’t broken. We broke it. Now there’s no escape, only the echo of our own mistakes and the hunger of what we’ve set loose.
Worship Decay
We are climbing toward nothing. Worship Decay captures the frostbitten exhaustion of a generation burdened by a legacy of destruction. Too numb to scream, too tired to hope. This is the anthem of those who ascend in vain, worshiping survival while decay eats us from within. We don’t believe in tomorrow – and yet we climb.
Severance
What remains when trust is broken beyond repair? Severance is a furious reckoning with betrayal and false idols. A call to tear down the thrones of modern kings and abandon a world built on fear and manipulation. In a temple poisoned by greed, this song is our war cry to sever the chains, raze the old, and reclaim the future with blood-stained hands.
Letters
We scream into the void, hoping someone might still hear us. "Letters" is a fragile yet defiant attempt to leave a mark before we’re swallowed by oblivion. This song mourns the loss of connection and identity in a collapsing world. A melancholic plea for meaning as the stars watch us fall.
