Bloodstock Bound: Headpress
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and Jägermeister stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Headpress!
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Headpress: Hi! I'm Karl. I play bass. Mart plays guitar, and Tim is the drummer. Vocal-wise I do most of the heavy lifting, but Mart & Tim contribute significantly
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your style of metal?
Headpress: We sit somewhere on the death metal/hardcore spectrum. Between us we have a wide range of influences, however we just try to write heavy fucking songs with groove and clarity.
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Headpress: We actually won our hometown, Stoke 2022 M2TM. Unfortunately, a family emergency prevented us from playing last year. Thankfully Bloodstock have been really supportive and given us the opportunity to play this year. We'd like to personally thank Simon Hall in particular for his continuing support.
The Razor's Edge: How tough was the competition?
Headpress: When we played last year, the competition was fierce, and this year having been to some of the M2TM Stoke heats the competition is equally good.
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Headpress: We've attended as fans and watched hundreds of bands grace the stages across the years. And now we feel honoured to now be a part of the best UK festival bar non.
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Headpress: Heavy with proper groove; keeps the pit moving.
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Headpress: Friday 11th August
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Headpress: For me personally it's got to be the original line up of Biohazard. Across the board so many, but In Flames, Heavenshallburn, Killswitch, Sepultura, Decapitated. Also, our local friends in Black Coast are playing the S.O.P.H.I.E stage
The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first stepping stone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Headpress: Continue to get high profile gigs and release music we're proud of.
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
Headpress: We're on the artists site, hopefully with the other New Blood and Jager bands. Should be a good crack and band camaraderie there.
The Razor's Edge: You’ve gotta keep hydrated at Bloodstock, what is your drink of choice for the weekend?
Headpress: We love a Kracken and Jager, but whatever's going we'll have.
The Razor's Edge: See you at Bloodstock in a few weeks!
Headpress: See ya there. Can't wait!
