Bloodstock Bound: Broken Calling
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and Jägermeister stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Broken Calling!
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Broken Calling: Connor: Hello! I’m Connor Snyder and I am one of now 2 Vocalists in Broken Calling. I'm joined by our newest member Tanzy Velane. And the rest of the band is James Falconer on Bass, Martin Osborne and Callum Green on Guitars and Jack Messenger on Drums
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your style of metal?
Broken Calling: Connor: We just call ourselves Metal really! But we do have a wide range of different genres we pool from. Mainly Metalcore, Hardcore, Drum and Bass and Nu-Metal. We don’t really stick to one though!
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Broken Calling: Connor: We won Metal To the Masses Kent! (The best region in our opinion!) Hosted by the wonderful Stu Jessop and the amazing team at Leo’s Red Lion Gravesend! There was also a wild Riffmonkey involved… he knows who he is!
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Broken Calling: Connor: Everything. It’s a chance to show everyone that we are here to play. And we want to play the bigger stages! I’m still trying to process it! We’re playing Bloodstock!
Jack: It’s the biggest show we have played as a band to date so it means so much. When they announced us at the final I honestly couldn’t believe it.
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Broken Calling: Connor: Big Energy, Big Riffs, six Nutters having the time of their lives with everyone in that tent. And Martin might jump on someone… he does that sometimes!
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Broken Calling: Connor: Saturday on The New Blood Stage!
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Broken Calling: Jack: Killswitch, All Hail The Yeti, Knocked Loose, Meshuggah and our mates in Pryma!
Connor: All the same bands to be honest! But also throw in our besties in Black Coast!
The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first stepping stone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Broken Calling: Connor: We have played abroad! So we do have some plans to venture out of the country this year! But for now, we’ll start with domination of the New Blood Stage at Bloodstock as a start! And shred our way out!
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
Broken Calling: We don’t know yet! We’re spoilt for choice!
The Razor's Edge: You’ve gotta keep hydrated at Bloodstock, what is your drink of choice for the weekend?
Broken Calling: Jack: The sensible side of me says water but I’m sure there will be some Jack Daniels flowing! (Not on Friday night though I need a clear head for our set!)
Connor: Until Saturday… stay sensible. Afterwards, load up the Jack Daniels babyyyyyy!
The Razor's Edge: See you at Bloodstock in a few weeks!
Broken Calling: Connor: We can’t wait to see everyone there on The New Blood stage Saturday! Broken Calling are coming for ya!
