DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring Nymphic

DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Nymphic

Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we find Nymphic sat on the beach. The island is far from their home, so how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil's Island?

Find out now...

Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.

You're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?

OMI - The Black Album by Metallica because I fell in love with the album. It's black, I love black, and you know, nothing else matters.

TONY - I would go for Trauma by I Prevail because it's the only album where I never skip a song.

STIX - Dance of Death by Iron Maiden, I guess, because it's really nostalgic. I used to listen to it on my Walkman and imagine all the stories they told in that album.

GEORGE - Mine is In Silico by Pendulum because the final track on that album is one of the main reasons I learned to play guitar, and it soundtracked basically my whole childhood.

Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?

OMI - Nirvana's Nevermind. The band asks, "What?! Why a baby?" Because I'm a swimmer, I love water.

GEORGE - The cover for the Doom video-game soundtrack album. That shit is metal as fuck.

TONY - Killers by Iron Maiden because it was on the back of an Avenged Sevenfold album poster I would have picked if I could remember which one it was.

STIX - Mastodon's Crack the Skye because it's well trippy, man.

There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?

OMI - Rum, any.

GEORGE - A whiskey sour because I'm fancy and cultured.

TONY - Peroni for me.

STIX - Signature Brew Studio Lager because you never know, I might get a sponsorship deal while on the island.

Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?

TONY - A T-shirt from Landmvrks because it's the coolest one I own.

GEORGE - A Metallica hoodie from the ...And Justice for All album I've had forever. Stix asks, "But you'll be hot, man?" I'll weather it.

STIX - My Final Frontier Iron Maiden shirt that was stolen from me—in hopes it's a magic suitcase.

OMI - Uh shit, a Pigeon Hole T-shirt. Because it's a fucking cool shirt.

You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?

OMI - Obviously a girl, uh, Dua Lipa.

GEORGE - The entire cast of Lord of the Rings. Well, maybe not the entire cast, minus the orcs.

TONY - My dog, obviously my dog.

STIX - My woman, but not because she told me to say it (she told me to say it).

Devil's Island featuring Nymphic

There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?

TONY - Skindred at OVO Arena Wembley on March 15, 2024.

GEORGE - What's a Walkman?

OMI - Foo Fighters in Colombia 2018 because it's the last time I saw Taylor Hawkins.

STIX - The Queen Live Aid performance. The energy, the crowd, everything. What a man.

You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?

We all unanimously pick Jack Black. Why? It's Jack Black. He could sing his way across the seas. He will find a way.

You've been stuck here a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?

Omi, definitely Omi. He would only slow us down

Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?

Omi again, he's inspirational, talented, beautiful, and we all apparently want to eat him eventually anyway. Tasty.
