Bloodstock Bound: Convey
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and EMP stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Convey
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Convey: I’m Ollie, you can find me on guitar and backing vocals. We’ve also got Jack on lead vocals, Rob on bass and Alex on drums
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your sound?
Convey: I think Jack put it best when he described us as "Lingering teen angst and existential exasperation wrapped in electrical tape and barbed wire.”
Basically angry vocals and big fuzzy riffs is our driving force!
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Convey: We fought our way through Cheltenham’s Metal 2 The Masses competition at the Frog & Fiddle!
The Razor's Edge: How tough was this years M2TM competition?
Convey: It was really tough! There were so many fantastic bands in the competition, including some of our friends like Hollow Ritual and Unto The Ages, who we went up against at the final. We just went in with the intention of having a great time because these shows are notoriously insane to play.
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Convey: Bloodstock feels like an opportunity to get our foot in the door. We’ve been going a little over a year now so this is our first big step and we intend on making the most of it!
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Convey: A lot of energy, we’re going to put everything we possibly can on that stage. You won’t want to miss our set!
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Convey: We’ll be playing on the Saturday
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Convey: It’s going to be so hard to catch all the bands that we want to see. Sylosis will be a personal favourite of mine but I know you’ll probably catch us at Hatebreed, Green Lung, Malevolence, Cauldron, Carcass, Amon Amarth, Igorrr and our friends in Kensei will be on the same stage as us too.
The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first steppingstone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Convey: Same thing we’ve been doing so far; pushing new music, playing badass shows and I know there’s plans to release a batshit music video with the next single. Hopefully towards the end of this year/start of next year we can get our first tours on the road.
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
Convey: I think we’re going to be spread around. I think a couple of us will be in general camping, I’m not sure on the specific site though, and the others will be in artist camping. Keep an eye out for us, we’ll be everywhere!
The Razor's Edge: It’s festival weekend, what’s your food vendor of choice on site?
Convey: We’re so used to quick and dirty fast food before gigs that we’re probably going to end up hitting as many of the vendors as we can. I know Jack has already scoped out HS Catering Duck. He likes his food lean and clean. You’ll probably find me next to a burger van or pizza place.
