Final Damantion Festival Announcement

Damnation 2019

Damnation Festival makes final announcement for its 2019 line up.

Today the final Damnation Festival announcement for 2019 has been made by the organisers. Polish black metallers, MGLA, and American heavy-rock outfit, Big Business, head up the final batch of talent set to perform at this year’s Damnation.

Mgla will headline a Tone Stage stacked with extreme metal from the likes of Venom Prison, Gaahls Wyrd and Blood Red Throne while Big Business will close a day of prog, stoner and doom riffs in the Eyesore stage, courtesy of The Vintage Caravan, Inter Arma and Lord Dying.

Rounding off the 28-band, four-stage festival at Leeds University Union on Saturday, November 2, is LA’s harsh noise collective Crowhurst, German sludge trio Earth Ship and England’s own black metal offering, The Infernal Sea.

The five additions complete a staggering line-up which also boasts the likes of Opeth, Mayhem, Alcest and Primordial.

Organiser Gavin McInally said:

“Mgla are one of, if not the, most requested band for this year’s event along with Alcest and My Dying Bride, so it’s been worth the effort to land two of the three.

“We’re delighted to announce what will be their only UK outing following the release of their much-anticipated new album, headlining our TONE Stage, rammed with some of the best extreme music on the metal circuit.

“While Big Business are the perfect fit to close an Eyesore Stage which will play host to a day of guitar - and cello - worship.

“Debuts by Crowhurst and Earth Ship as well as an overdue return by The Infernal Sea bolster the deepest and strongest bill we’ve ever had the pleasure of building.”

He added:

“After three sell outs on the bounce we were determined not to get complacent and the booking of Opeth - by far and away the biggest band we’ve ever confirmed - has pushed the event forward while an aftershow by Gost and focusing the Cult Never Dies Stage on black metal; Imperial Triumphant, Mork, Voices, Dawn Ray’d... are moves we’re confident will offer a better Damnation to our fanbase - some who have been with us since Jilly’s Rockworld in 2005.

“All these years in, we’re hopeful fans realise it’s not a sales bluff when we say we expect to sell out again. We expect to sell out again.”

The full Damnation 2019 line-up is: Opeth, Mayhem, Alcest, Primordial, Mgla, Venom Prison, Big Business, Gaahls Wyrd, The Vintage Caravan, Raging Speedhorn, A Pale Horse Named Death, Blood Red Throne, Inter Arma, Birds In Row, Jo Quail, Imperial Triumphant, Gost, Crowhurst, Lord Dying, Carnation, Wheel, Mork, Earth Ship, The Infernal Sea, Voices, Alunah, Dawn Ray’d and Godeater.
