DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring Krysthla

Devil's Island featuring Krysthla.

We're back on our tropical desert island, in the middle of the ocean, hundreds of miles from anywhere. This is Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band on the island and see what they get up to. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each band copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we found Krysthla, fresh off the back of appearances at Bloodstock Festival and Uprising. We though the band were lost, but we've found them shipwrecked on our island! How did they cope with life on Devil's Island? Find out now...

Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.

So you're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you each chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?

Noel: Master of Puppets by Metallica because it’s awesome.
Adi: Brave by Marillion because it’s my favourite album of all time.
Carl: Appetite for Destruction Guns n’ Roses, because that was the album that started it all for me.
Liam: 36 chambers by ODB because listening to that album blew me away.
Neil: Ocean Machine by Devin Townsend because it was the first record that showed you can be super heavy but melodic but not in a traditional guitar driven way.

Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?

Adi: Iron Maiden Somewhere in Time
Noel: Metallica Master of Puppets
Carl: Appetite for Destruction Gn’R
Liam: Nirvana Bleach
Neil: our own album, Worldwide Negative because it’s my daughter on the cover

There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to chose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?

Liam: Earl Grey
Noel: Master of cuppas (twinnings)
Neil: Nesquick strawberry milkshake
Adi: Jamesons whisky
Carl: Lager. Any kind of disco piss lager

I think thats the most interesting and eclectic mix of drinks we've had yet on the island

Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. Whats the merch and for what band?

Neil: Pig Destroyer Hoody
Adi: Dead Kennedy’s In God We Trust tshirt
Carl: not necessarily band merch but my Bloodstock 2004 T-shirt from the first time we played.
Noel: Master of Puppets T-shirt
Liam: Thy Art is Murder shorts

There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?

Carl: Guns n Roses live at the Marquee 1987
Noel: Metallica Seattle 1989
Liam: architects at The Alexandra Palace 2018.
Adi: Ozzy Osbourne Randy Rhoads tribute album
Neil: Talk of the devil Ozzy Osbourne

You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the one musician most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?

Neil: Bruce Dickinson
Carl: Keith Moon
Adi: Ozzy Osbourne
Noel: The police
Liam: John Rice.

You've been stuck here a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?

Neil: Neil
Carl: Neil
Adi: Liam
Liam: Neil
Noel: Neil

Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?

Adi: Jello Biafra
Liam:
Jesse Leach
Carl:
Cliff Burton
Noel:
James Hetfield
Neil:
George Michael

Thanks for your time. We hope you make it off the island soon.

As we sailed away from the island, leaving the band starving on the beach, at least they had an assortment of teas, milkshakes and whiskeys to keep them going. Get back to dry land soon lads!
