DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring Eradikator

Devil's Island featuring Eradikator.

We're back on our tropical desert island, in the middle of the ocean, hundreds of miles from anywhere. This is Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band on the island and see what they get up to. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each band copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we found the West Midland's finest thrashers Eradikator, sat on the beach. We had not seen the band for a while, we thought they were lost, search parties had found no trace! But now we've found them shipwrecked on our island!

How did they cope with life on Devil's Island? Find out now...

Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.

So you're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you each chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?

Andy: Michael Jackson - Bad. That album is the first album I remember hearing so if I’m, in all likelihood, gonna die on this island it’s fitting that is also the the last.
Jon: Anvil - Metal on Metal because it’s so heavy. Also when I’m feeling down Lips can tell me to “keep on rockin'”
Liam: Without shadow of a doubt - Corey Feldman: Angelic 2 the Core. If you have to ask why, then you don’t deserve to know.
Pat: Guns n Roses - Appetite for Destruction. It's the complete rock album and every song is a classic.

Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?

Andy: Black Sabbath - Born Again. I’d like to think if I was stuck on the island for years I might be able to look at it long enough to finally work out what the fuck is wrong with that devil baby.
Jon: NOFX - Liberal Animation. Gonna need some comedy on the island. Also if cows ever take over, they’ll see my poster and I’ll be all good.
Liam: Nicki Minaj – Queen. Take a look and you’ll see why.
Pat: Eradikator - Obscura. I know it's my own bands album but i love the artwork and it reminds me of all the hard work and good times writing and recording the record .

There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to chose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?

Andy: Guinness. Aside from it being pretty much all i drink, if you can’t find any food you can have three of them and you’ve got in your 3 meals a day.
Jon: Um Bongo, but only the little cartons with the straw.
Liam: Bloody Mary. A spicy Italian meal beverage, nutritious and delicious at any time of day.
Pat: Proper English Cup of tea, my day never starts without it.

Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. Whats the merch and for what band?

Andy: It would probably be my Gojira hoodie because it has that smiling sun on the back that would lift my spirits, but if it’s a scorchingly hot desert island then a hoodie would be a bad choice.
Jon: My Dropkick Murphys t-shirt, because it’s gonna be hot and it's the only white t-shirt I own.
Liam: My only band hoodie which is my Eradikator hoodie. If it’s the Devil’s Island off the coast of French Guiana, it’s pretty hot and I’m ginger, so I’ll need to cover up my delicate skin to protect against sunburn and potential melanomas.
Pat: Probably my Misfits baseball shirt as its badass haha.

There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?

Andy: Keb Mo and Taj Mahal at the Hammersmith Apollo. That was one of the greatest shows I’ve ever been too and it’s nice desert island music.
Jon: Eagles - Hell Freezes Over. I don’t think any band will ever top this performance. Also good island music.
Liam: Rush – Exit stage left. Because RUUUUUUUUUSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Pat: Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous

You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the one musician most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?

Andy: Well it’s obviously got to be Sting and the note would just be the lyrics to message in a bottle. I think he seems like he likes to be complemented and he would be touched by that tribute and also he’s rich so he could fund a pretty serious search party.
Jon: Any member of Amon Amarth, getting rescued in a viking ship would be badass.
Liam: Bruce Dickinson. Guy flies planes, so he’ll be swift to pick us up.
Pat: I would send a message to Lars Ulrich quoting my metclub number and rough estimate of the amount of money I've spent on his band and demand he send a private jet immediately.

You've been stuck here a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?

Andy: It’s gonna be me without a doubt. I’m the tallest so probably got the most meat on me, but then again Pat is probably the healthiest so he might taste better. It depends if you want quantity or quality. Just don’t eat my lungs or Pats liver.
Jon: Thats up to the gods of Rochambeau.
Liam: Why choose one when we can each sacrifice a little something and all survive. Pats arms, Johns legs, my thicc juicy ass, Andy's beard as garnish.
Pat: I'd eat them all as it would be too hard to choose who survives and i like my own company.

Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?

Andy: Lars Frederiksen from Rancid. He was my idol growing up. Plus I think he would make a good pirate and would have good road stories to keep me entertained.
Jon: It would have to be Travis Barker. I had loads of influences growing up, but Blink-182 and especially the Take off Your Pants and Jacket album were the first band/album that I spent hours playing along to. Not your typical metal response but I think most metal purists (even if they won’t admit it) have some love for Blink!
Liam: Dave Mustaine.
Pat: James Hetfield. He was my hero growing up and still is to this day, not just for the music but for his resilience to overcome his addictions and life struggles.

We hope you make it off the island soon.

Eradikator are all set to support Sacred Reich at K.K.'s Steel Mill this coming Wednesday. We hope they get rescued in time!
