King Corpse Reveal Deatils For New E.P. 'Sacred Crimson'.
Black Country sludge metal heroes King Corpse announce the details for their forthcoming EP ‘Sacred Crimson’. The band was formed in 2015 by bassist Jack Cradock and former drummer Joe Worton, with the later addition of James Pearson on guitar. Shortly after the three then set their sights on churning out monstrous, dark and doomy riffs in their rehearsal space, labelled ‘The KCrypt”. Drummer Joe, stepped down not long after the band’s formation and King Corpse welcomed the skills of college friend Toby Sambidge.
Following on from this they began to bring their songs to stages around the Black Country and Birmingham, paying homage to the doom greats of the area such as Black Sabbath and Witchfinder General, as well as more contemporary artists such as Crowbar and Down. The band, in the short time they have been together, have already had big successes with their previous EP ‘King Corpse’ and followed that up with support slots with the likes of Conan & Monolord.
Moving forward, King Corpse entered the studio once more during 2019 to begin work on their follow up EP titled ‘Sacred Crimson’ which was recorded by Jack whilst he was studying at the University of Leeds, and this was then mixed and mastered by Chris Wilson of Stourbridge Studios. The EP includes five brand new tracks, but the physical copies of the album will come with an extra three bonus tracks from the band’s first EP that have been re-mastered.
Jack from King Corpse has said:
“This release is King Corpse beginning to stretch our wings. We are branching out from our Stoner / Doom roots, trying to explore other ways that heavy can be expressed. We’ve worked super hard to create something we feel is original and that above all we hope people can connect with.”
Sacred Crimson immerses itself in the riffs and mood of it’s grandfathers, the gods of metal Black Sabbath. Jack’s anomalous vocals are captivating and add depth and mystery to the songs, connect this with the gut-wrenching rhythm section this makes Sacred Crimson 8 songs of cosmic bliss. Sacred Crimson will be released and available on all streaming platforms from Friday 17th April 2020.
