DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Pressure
Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.
This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we found Pressure sat on the beach. The island is far from their base, but how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil's Island?
Find out now...
Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.
So you're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?
Ah, well it maybe SEEMS like we got the ship wrecked but it was a “controlled crash”. We wanted to be alone for a while to really have some time to just relax and write some music. So we actually didn’t rescue any albums at all. That would only slow us down, so we brought our instruments – and our singer brought a secret book.
Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?
Our own creative spaces! Perfect. As we really need the inspiration but forgot to bring any album or posters we each have to draw the album cover art from memory. We agree that our memory isn’t the best thing we have. So we make up some cover arts. Simon tries to recreate Aerosmith's Big Ones cover with some leaf’s and branches but fails as no one except for him could possibly make out what it is. Emil has a hard time to decide so he just puts some black cloth on the wall and says its Metallica’s black album and Olof, as the creative guy he is, just paint some red and white to recreate Van Halen's Diver down album on the wall!
There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?
We are not that hard to predict. Simon goes for Whiskey and forces the others to have that as well. Simon actually begins to think he is a pirate king here…. Hmmm, we have to do something about that.
Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?
The merch that we saved will come in handy. Simon saved a Pressure bag that he will use to carry around all the Tressure he will find. Well don’t mind him. Olof and Emil both salvaged a Pressure bottle to keep the fresh water around (or drinks) !
You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?
Well, we actually wouldn’t have anything against being shipwrecked together. We have so much fun playing and writing. So we would still choose each other but perhaps also with a military officer who could call a air rescue whenever we wanted haha.
There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?
The live aid concert with Queen would be the great escape from the island that we would need sometime! A great show with so much passion and a great crowd. This would sure get our hope up and energy back to survive on the island.
You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?
“Help! Simon is a Pirate king and we have nowhere to hide from him. RESCUE US (and please bring beer)”
You've been stuck here for a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?
We sure would sacrifice Olof, he is the most tasty person. He is actually a baker so that would have put some flavour into him!
Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?
As a story metal band, we get our influences and motivation from the people around us. We write and play music that tells the story about all the pressures that are around us each and every day. If it all has come to an end, we would gladly instead sacrifice us as a band to save the people around us as they are the fuel that we need to continue with our music and do what we do best.
