Winterburn - The Songs That Influenced Their Sound!
Exhilarating rock ‘n’ rollers WINTERBURN charge forward with a scorching new video for the track, Sinner’s Swing, out now. The killer cut is taken from WINTERBURN’s much admired debut album, Ivory Towers, which is also out now.
For now, check out video for Sinner's Swing below:
With that in mind, we exclusively asked Nas from the band about which songs have most influenced him:
Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower
Truth be told it was “Voodoo Child” at Woodstock that blew my mind as a kid & made me want to pick up the guitar but this Bob Dylan cover, which honestly surpasses the original by eons, has impacted my playing the most. You can hear little Hendrix-esque licks & inflections on almost every single one of my songs.
Van Halen - Unchained
My all time favourite guitar riff. Anyone who knows me knows that Eddie was my ultimate guitar hero, everything about this tune screams badass. It may not have the most scintillating EVH solo but that’s what I love about it, his relaxed approach to the solos on this demonstrate his tastefulness. Doesn’t get better than this for me.
Ozzy Osbourne - Flying High Again
Might come as a shock to people, there’s no doubt that “Crazy Train” was my introduction to Randy Rhoads & is an iconic tune but Ozzy’s second record with Randy is what had the biggest impact on my playing. I always say he’s in my holy trinity of guitar heroes up there with EVH & Jimi. Again, you can hear Randy’s influence in virtually every single one of my songs from the playing to the tone. The song “Gypsy” off our latest record is literally a homage to Randy!
Guns N’ Roses - Nightrain
There’s no doubt that Slash was probably my first guitar hero ever & is still one of my biggest influences to this day. This tune is not my favourite GN’R song but the one that had the most impact on my guitar playing for sure. The interplay between Slash & Izzy, trade off of licks a la The Stones is totally rad & both the main & ending solo are just incredible.
Extreme - Decadence Dance
This one might also come to a surprise to many although I often get compared to Nuno, although I wish I was half the player, primarily cause of I write “shreddy” riffs I guess, using percussive rhythms & elements akin to his style. Yes, there’s no doubt about it though, Nuno is one of my biggest guitar influences & Extreme’s first two records are stellar, definitely music I would recommend to any music fan.
