The Final Countdown to Bloodstock Festival

The Final Countdown to Bloodstock Festival

Bloodstock is gearing up for their best ever festival and the countdown is ON! There’s just over a week to go, ‘til the marauding metal hordes thunder through the gates of Catton Park and return to their spiritual ‘home’ at BLOODSTOCK.

Sadly, due to unforeseen circumstances, SOEN have had to cancel, but the heavy noise of STRIGOI will slide into a Sunday slot on the Sophie Lancaster Stage. But there’s plenty to keep you entertained across the weekend, not least that very special ‘surprise’ set on Friday afternoon over on the Sophie Stage! Who could it be?!!

Set times will be released soon on the BLOODSTOCK app, so download yours to your phone from the appropriate app store to stay up to date on all band time slots.

Hot on the heels of the recent massive food & traders update, BLOODSTOCK is particularly excited to confirm that everyone’s essential sunny weather accessory will be available in the main arena all weekend - BLOODSTOCK’s BLACK ICE CREAM. Is there anything more metal? This year, it’s alcohol-free and a delicious, zingy flavour of ginger and lemon, so suitable for all ages. Save us a spot in the queue!

Plus, BLOODSTOCK is going ever greener as it launches multiple solutions to aid its carbon footprint and address sustainability. 2022 sees the launch of a cup collection initiative on site, where you can earn prizes for collecting cups! The collection hub is up at Lemmy’s Bar, so if you’re keen to participate, head there to grab your collector's card. Then gather up any discarded cups on site, hand them back in at Lemmy’s Bar to get your card stamped (1 stamp per 50 cups), then carry on collecting or cash in your reward! The more cups you collect, the bigger prize you can score! T&C’s apply.

50 cups - 1 free pint or a shot of spirit
100 cups - 15% off BOA merch or 1 meal voucher
250 cups - 1 Bloodstock Festival shirt
600 cups - Immediate upgrade to Serpents Lair VIP bar access
750 cups - Backstage Tour (numbers limited)
1000 cups - Watch a band from side stage.

If you’ve SERPENT’S LAIR VIP tickets, there’s a boatload of exclusive bands & DJs for you, including not least fun-packed tributes to Billy Idol, Bryan Adams, and Blondie (Icons On Tour on Friday), and Meatloaf (Paul Lee on Saturday), MEZZOTINT (one for fans of Fields Of The Nephilim), funky electric blues from MARTIN FERAL, plus comedy & cabaret over the weekend. On Sunday, you won’t want to pass up seeing Slipknot fan CALEB H, an outstanding drummer of just 7yrs of age and a viral sensation who’s appeared on ITV’s Game Of Talents and The Ellen Degeneres Show. You may have seen him on stage with Jay Weinberg at Slipknot’s Birmingham Arena show in 2020! There’s also a chance to join in with some Bandioke, courtesy of REKOVERED. Not only that, HELL BENT FOR METAL, the LGBTQ+ heavy metal podcast, will be doing a live recording from the Serpent's Lair, giving its platform to BLOODSTOCK's LGBTQ+ community to talk about their experiences of being out at BLOODSTOCK, other festivals, and the metal scene in general. For more info, DM them through one of their social media platforms. Film fan? Be sure to check out cool rock n’ roll flicks from Corrosion Of Conformity, Alice In Chains, and Hawkwind at 1pm every day Fri-Sun, preceded by 10am family movies if you’ve little ‘uns with you. There’s also the usual enormous array of 120+ beers, ales, and ciders at the bar, including new additions from Titanic Brewery, Peakstones Rock Brewing Co Ltd, Black Country Ales, and Dancing Duck Brewery to name a few (and there’s 40+ at the main arena bars too).

Secondly, BLOODSTOCK is kicking off the Campsite Green Wars for 2022! Collect a bin bag on entry to the festival and be sure to bag and bin your rubbish (more bags are available at campsite info hubs across the weekend) or take it home with you, in order to help BLOODSTOCK become greener. On Monday morning, we’ll send one of our photographers to take pictures of all the campsites, including camper vans, and the cleanest campsite will be announced online on BLOODSTOCK’s socials. Do your bit to help your favourite campsite come out top dogs! Will it be Vanaheim? Does Midgard clean up as hard as it parties? Or will it be the quiet ones over in Ragnarok? Do your bit to help your campsite win!

BLOODSTOCK is also collaborating with A GREENER FESTIVAL, a non-profilt organisation who aid events in becoming more sustainable and assist in solutions to reduce their carbon footprint. Get their top sustainability tips for festival go-ers here. BLOODSTOCK is also implementing solar power for battery packs serving some of its infrastructure and powering the WiFi networks on site.

Wondering how best to get to BLOODSTOCK? BLOODSTOCK is pleased to support two sustainable travel options - Big Green Coach (who’ll drop you & your gear right inside the festival gates for minimal walking, from 33 locations around the UK. Reserve your seat for just a tenner) and Liftshare (a safe way to offer up a spare seat in your car, or nab one in someone else’s & make new friends to boot). Get more info on both options over at BIG GREEN COACH and LIFTSHARE. For more travel info, look under the info section on BLOODSTOCK’s official website here.
