DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Forgotten Sons
Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.
This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we find Forgotten Sons sat on the beach. The island is far from the bands home, so how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil's Island?
Find out now...
Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.
You're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?
Stephen: I would probably have grabbed Red Medicine by Fugazi, because I love it and the obnoxious clarinet on “version” would be a fitting soundtrack for my steady decline into madness, plotting the best ways to pick of the boys for consumption. A man has to eat.
John: I would take the Eagles Greatest Hits, just to annoy Stephen…who hates them,
Sandy: I would grab Colourmeinkindness by Basement, it slaps harder than you can slap….and I love a good slap!
Callum: I’m taking Ride The Lightning. Why? Because I’m allergic to eggs and this album is egg free BABY!
Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?
John: Bring me the Horizon 'That’s The Spirit' I like how its an umbrella. When it rains they are very useful.
Sandy: Bad Religion 'Suffer' A man on fire in Suburbia, me….burning in the desert island heat. It just fits.
Callum: Shakira’s 2014 self titled album. No reason, it would confuse everyone. I haven’t even heard it I thrive on chaos.
Stephen: Radiohead 'Kid A' the song 'National Anthem' has a tuba solo…do YOU have a tuba solo? No. Point made.
There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?
Callum: Water. I don’t like spicy food.
Stephen: Long Island Ice Tea, I have a drinking problem.
John: Woodpecker Cider, it’s fruity and refreshing and RED.
Sandy: Vodka and coke, keep it simple.
Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?
Sandy: My Robert Smith (Cure) willy warmer. I simply can’t risk penile frost bite, I can’t.
Stephen: My Hot Water Music hot water bottle, I can fill it with long island ice tea.
Callum: My Malevolence T Shit. It makes me look dapper,
John: My Paramore pants. No explanation is needed.
You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?
Stephen: Bear Grylls. I’m surviving this.
Sandy: My wife, Erin… because if she reads this and she is not the answer… I’m in trouble xxx
John: My drumkit, people are overrated.
Callum: That guy from the Go Compare avert, we have unfinished business.
There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?
Callum: Iron Maiden Live in Rio, easy!
Sandy: Nirvana at Reading Fest!
John: Fatherson at the Barrowland Ballroom
Stephen: Les Savy Fav at Sala Apollo in Barcelona!
You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?
Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden… he has a jet! Simple extraction. Bosh!
You've been stuck here for a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?
Stephen has long since murdered and consumed us all by day two. We now haunt him, watching him slowly waste away.
Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?
John: Taylor Hawkins, such a huge loss to the music world and an absolute Icon! Such an amazing musician and a huge part of why I play drums
Sandy: Tom Delonge, he has answers about Aliens…and I got questions!
Stephen: Bjork, utterly fearless woman who isn’t afraid to just be herself! I love how she cuts her own path and always retains her integrity
Callum: Bruce Dickinson, He has a plane. I don’t really need to say anymore.
