Through the fall of rain and clasps of thunder which envelopes the opening seconds of this album a keyboard breaks, building slowly until the signature tones of Nita Strauss guitar kick in.

Nita recently returned to Alice Cooper’s band having previously stepped aside to tour with Demi Lovato. However this July she takes her second foray into her solo career with the release of ‘The Call of The Void’ on Sumarian records.

Once the rain of opening track ‘Summer Storm’ clears the four minute number acts as an introduction to Nita’s talents, an instrumental highlighting just how good she is.

The majority of songs on the album feature guest vocalists, and Nita has focused the writing of many to harness the prowess of each guest perfectly. Alissa White-Gluz the first to appear on ‘The Wolf You Feed’. ‘Digital Bullets’ has hints of electronica occasionally rearing its head in a track perfectly suited to Chris "Motionless" Cerulli stylings.

Each track is individual, which on one hand can feel a little strange when the listener jumps from style to style, but on the other hand demonstrates just how versatile Nita Strauss is. No matter what the style being portrayed in the composition the overriding factor that stands out is the quality of the guitar skills on display. These highlighted even more so on the instrumentals that scatter the album, ‘Consume The Fire’, ‘Scorched’ and ‘Momentum’ in particular.

One of the highlights is ‘Through The Noise’ a magnificent number fronted by the incredibly talented Lzzy Hale and then the cameo from the great man himself Alice Cooper on ‘Winner Takes It All’.

The mix of styles on the album means there is something for everyone on this album from rock through various flavours of heavy metal, Nita has encapsulated it all.
