Bloodstock Bound: Wild Heat

Bloodstock Bound: Wild Heat

As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and Jägermeister stages at this years event.

Today we chat with Wild Heat!

The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.

Wild Heat: Hey guys! We’re Wild Heat from Belfast; Carlos Goggin on lead guitar, Tommy Vice on vocals, Dave Zane on rhythm guitar, “The Nature Boy” Neal Fowler on bass, and Kostas G on drums.

The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your style of metal?

Wild Heat: Our music might be classed more as hard rock, but Carlos and Kostas were both in multiple metal bands before Wild Heat so they bring that influence to our music. It’s a blend of 80s metal and classic AOR with enough explosive riffs, driving bass lines, pounding beats, and catchy hooks to appeal to a broad range of fans.

The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?

Wild Heat: We got the gig thanks to our manager James from The Distortion Project. Many other bands under his tutelage have played Bloodstock in the past (including The Crawling, Nomadus, Sinocence, and Skypilot) so when he put our name forward the bookers took notice.

The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?

Wild Heat: Bloodstock will be the biggest and most prestigious show we’ve ever played, so it’s safe to say that we're pretty excited! We always get a great reception when we play metal shows, even though our music is more hard rock orientated, so we’re looking forward to making a lot of new fans, taking a lot of pictures, and drinking a lot of beer.

The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?

Wild Heat: Our music is all about high energy and having a good time, so expect a lot of shredding solos, a bit of crowd participation, and maybe even a big cover song for you guys to sing along to… any guesses?!

The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?

Wild Heat: We’re taking to the stage on Friday.

The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?

Wild Heat: Megadeth, Sepultura, Ugly Kid Joe, Meshuggah, and Killswitch would be our top 5 for the weekend, but we’re going to try and catch as many acts as possible.

The Razor's Edge: Playing the Jager Stage is just the first stepping stone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?

Wild Heat: We’ve only been gigging for three years (five in total, with a two-year Covid hiatus) so we still have a lot of ground to cover! Bloodstock is an incredible start so we’d love to keep the ball rolling with other festivals like Planet Rockstock, Winter’s End, Steelhouse, Call of the Wild, Download, etc. If you guys know anyone involved, please hit us up! Other than that, we just want to keep putting out great music. We’re currently working on our third album so that’s keeping us out of trouble.

The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?

Wild Heat: Hell yea we’re camping! Not sure whereabouts we’re pitching up yet but just follow the smell of Guinness…

The Razor's Edge: How many Jager shots will you be consuming over the weekend?

Wild Heat: All of them.

The Razor's Edge: See you at Bloodstock in a few weeks!

Wild Heat: See you then dudes!
