Yaki Dah: The Songs That Influenced Us
South Wales newcomers YAKI DAH are making their mark. The alt-rockers’ stunning new single, You, Me, and Lee, is out now, and you can watch the video, here. With the band on the rise, we exclusively asked the rock ‘n’ rollers to name their top five most influential tracks, and they picked out some bangers:
War Pigs – Black Sabbath
Jack Williams: “Not only can you say how much this song has influenced me and Jack (Lee) on personal level, but it has been a huge influence on our songs such as “Lair of the Vampyre” and “16 miles to Merthyr”. It’s such an influential to song to many, especially us.
Woman – Wolfmother
Christian: “The reason I chose this song is because one day me and Jack (Williams) were sharing songs with each other, I was showing him metal and he was showing rock and this is the best song I heard that day and is the sound I wanted YAKI DAH to have!”
Territorial Pissings – Nirvana
Francesco De Muro: “I chose ‘Territorial Pissings’ because I love Nirvana and because Nirvana for me is my ‘Dark side of the moon’. I love to be wild and explosive but also tend to live my life in a blues glam bubble”.
True Lies – Kenny Wayne Sheppard
Jack Lee: “A bit out of the norm with this one but I came across this song a couple of years ago and has become a constant member on my playlists, the groove of the song and the simple yet melodic riffs just tick every single box for me!”
Fire – Jimi Hendrix
Collectively we wanted to choose a song we all aspire to sound like. There’s no doubt that we’re not the only band aspiring to be like the late, great ‘Jimi Hendrix’ but this song just speaks to us as its fast paced, all on the go at once. We love this song!
