Bloodstock Bound: Devils Henchmen
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and Jägermeister stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Devils Henchmen!
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Devils Henchmen: I’m Elliott, I play bass and chat shite into a mic for Devils Henchmen. I do that with Joe (Lead vox/guitar), Dylan (Lead guitar/vox) and Danny (Drums)
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your style of metal?
Devils Henchmen: Pretty Thrashy, but we’re sneaking more and more old-school hardcore influences in there. We started off a bit more “heavy metal”, but over the years we’ve found ourselves getting faster!
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Devils Henchmen: We won this year’s Metal 2 The Masses Merseyside.
The Razor's Edge: How tough was the competition this year?
Devils Henchmen: Incredibly tough, every band we played with were top quality, but that was great because it shows just how much talent is there in our scene at the moment. Spitfyre, Absolence, Indigo Horizon, Ogun and Black Kettle. All bands that are absolutely worth listening to and seeing live if you can. This year’s M2TM Merseyside was incredibly well attended. People say Liverpool has no scene, but they’re definitely wrong. Massively talented bands and insane crowds.
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Devils Henchmen: A huge amount, we’ve all grown up knowing about this festival, it’s such a massive part of the UK metal scene and it means a lot that we can be part of that this year.
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Devils Henchmen: Fast riffs, angry tunes and a LOT of energy. We like getting the crowd going during our sets too, so if you like a pit and a laugh, come and watch us!
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Devils Henchmen: We will be performing on Friday at 3 pm at the New Blood Stage.
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Devils Henchmen: Too many to list them all! But Triptykon, Knocked Loose, Gatecreeper and Biohazard have got us all very excited, we’re also really looking forward to watching some of our mates who have also made it onto the New Blood stage this year, such as Beyond Your Design, Bloodmores, Vice, Square Wild and Headpress.
The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first steppingstone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Devils Henchmen: We’re super excited that Bloodstock will expose us to a huge amount of people, so we hope to win them over and grow our fanbase first of all. We have an album coming out later this year, and we want as many people as possible to hear it because we’re really proud of how it’s sounding. After that, gigs! We want to play more shows, especially in places we’ve never been before, and we want to help build up and support the already fantastic scene in our home city of Liverpool by putting on, playing and attending gigs whenever we can.
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
Devils Henchmen: Absolutely, a load of people close to us will be coming to the festival this year, and we will be camping with them, and seeing other friends as well.
The Razor's Edge: You’ve gotta keep hydrated at Bloodstock, what is your drink of choice for the weekend?
Devils Henchmen: Before our set, water. Afterwards, whatever we can get our hands on! We all have different drinks of choice, so many lagers, ciders and spirits will be consumed over the weekend.
