Bloodstock Bound: MuddiBrooke
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and Jägermeister stages at this years event.
Today we chat with MuddiBrooke!
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
MuddiBrooke: Hi, I’m Brooke, I’m the lead singer and guitarist. On bass we have the Italian-blooded, Anna Melidone (it helps to say her name along with the Italian hand) and on Drums we have Morgan Pettigrew, who joined us in Summer 2022. We’re all born and living in Derby/Derbyshire.
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your style of metal?
MuddiBrooke: I wouldn’t exactly describe our sound as ‘metal’, even though we do have a hint of nu-metal here and there. We’re a mix of Alternative Rock, Grunge, Nu-Metal with a SLIGHT tinge of country. We work with a wide range of influences from 80s pop with Eurythmics, The Pretenders, Adam Ant - to 90s Rock with Pearl Jam, Garbage, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, NIN - to 00s Nu-Metal and modern day rock like Highly Suspect, Wolf Alice and Deftones.
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
MuddiBrooke: We applied to play every year since we started in 2020 - but it was great to wake up to an email one morning that we had been picked for the Jagermeister stage!
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
MuddiBrooke: Incredible. As we’re all local to Bloodstock, we’ve all grown up surrounded by it. It’s great to see our name on a poster alongside so many bands we love!
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
MuddiBrooke: They should expect soft-building ballads, to punky, jump-around-party tracks, to harder songs with satisfyingly euphoric, heavy drops and vocal harmonies, with the odd blood-curdling scream. So a bit of everything!
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
MuddiBrooke: We’re playing on the Jagermeister Stage on Saturday at 6:15pm.
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
MuddiBrooke: I absolutely love In Flames, Killswitch Engage and Ugly Kid Joe. Luckily, they’re on different days/times to us so no clashes!
The Razor's Edge: Playing the Jager Stage is just the first steppingstone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
MuddiBrooke: This year, we plan to release a couple more singles leading up to the release of our debut
album next year!
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
MuddiBrooke: We’re booked in the Artist camping.
The Razor's Edge: You’ve gotta keep hydrated at Bloodstock, what is your drink of choice for the weekend?
Muddibrooke: None. Don’t tell Jagermeister, but I can’t stand the stuff. Get me a lager instead and I’ll be a happy gal.
