Princess Alice Manor – New EP Rundown

Princess Alice Manor – New EP Rundown

Immersing UK solo artist, PRINCESS ALICE MANOR, releases her mesmerising new EP, Outer Demons, on Friday. With that in mind, we spoke to Alice and asked her to give us this exclusive track by track breakdown of the release:

OUTER DEMONS

The Title Track and EP Name “Outer Demons” comes from a combination of the opposite to “Inner Demons” where inner emotions and actions start to reflect on the outside as well as a spiritual influence where an outer demon takes you deeper into your own mind, getting more subtle as you go down. As someone who has been through Mental Health Issues and Stress, I consider this very relatable to my own experiences and this has been the influence to the theme of the EP.

The EP also tells the story of a Demonic Possession being a metaphor of overcoming these feelings and emotions and turning them into something beneficial and life changing.

With the opening track I wanted to have a great way to introduce the EP with a blend of Nu-Metal, Shamisen and Rap Lyrics that tell you to expect the unexpected…

mon-StaR

mon-STaR is about holding people with a platform responsible for their cruel actions including Celebrities such as J.K. Rowling and more who seem to be immune to get a because of their previous creative works & achievements. As a Trans Woman unfortunately icons like this have had a negative impact on our community which can be relatable to other minorities as well. The song utilizes its Electronicore and EDM Influences while utilizing D-Jent/ Low Toned Guitars for a heavier hit. Even with its subject matter I wrote this song as a protest for people to chant and dance along to.

Fear (Trans-Anthem Pt. III)

Fear is the newest entry to my previous Trans Anthem Singles that focus on Trans Awareness and stories of fighting Transphobia. Whereas the previous tracks focused on Trans Pride, this track focuses more on Parental Trauma. Unfortunately, a lot of Trans Folk have not been able to progress with their transition because of the “Fear” of consequences from their family.

Even though I was more fortunate than others with my upbringing I always felt it was conditional. If I would express interest in things outside of the norm or there was a misunderstanding, I was met with reprimands and guilt tripping from my Step Mother & My Father wouldn’t interfere out of loyalty to them. I remember when I expressed interest in Gender Identity, I was told I was being ridiculous and whenever it came up in future, I was met with Transphobia that in the end I had to keep it a secret and was always in a state of anxiety and Fear. It wasn’t until much later when I finally broke away from them, I felt much better, and I wrote this song to help others who are or have been in the same situation

Creep

Creep is an Acoustic/ Orchestral Cover of the popular Radiohead Song. The cover takes a slower and more emotional build up route compared to the original with the use of piano, strings and guitars.

The song has a personal connection to me as the original song is about feeling like an outsider and about being in love with someone, but not feeling good enough which has related to my Transitional Journey as well. I have performed this Live as well a few times and something I do is get people to sit down with me which has resulted in some amazing and emotional moments especially with people singing along.

Alive

Alive is about tackling Suicide and Depression and overcoming these feelings. The story comes from personal experiences and the atmosphere of the song is a blend of Rave Synths, Intense Guitar Riffs & Orchestras. I wanted the song to capture my love of both Horror and Kawaii and be a great way to finish the EP with an uplifting and inspirational track.

To add to this feeling the song also features the use of Vocaloid Vocals using the Hatsune Miku Voice Bank. Hatsune Miku is a Character from the popular Voice Synth Program Vocaloid who is known internationally through online culture. As a fan of Kawaii & Japanese Culture as well as influences from Endorsed Vocaloid Metal Artist “Utsu-P” I’ve had a long interest in Hatsune Miku and felt like their synth like vocals is a great addition to this song.
