DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring Past The Fall

DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Past The Fall

Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we find Past The Fall sat on the beach. The island is far from their home, so how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil's Island?

Find out now...

Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.

You're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?

Thomas: Stone Temple Pilots – Purple. Because there are so many vibes on that album to keep me company.

Will: Well I’m the dubious professional- so if the ship is going down we have to make sure its ‘Women and Children First’ by Van Halen!

Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?

Thomas: The Black album... Exit light, enter night... Wishing me darkness and sweet dreams... what more could one want from a night’s sleep? Plus it won’t reflect the sunlight too much, come morning.

Will: I think it would be the cassette artwork for Queens of the Stone Age self titled debut. Trapped on an island with two guys indefinitely I think it’d be a good source of inspiration!

There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?

Thomas: Only one drink? Night and day? Hmm. Probably Earl Grey tea with milk and honey. Not that I am trying to get into the English explorer vibe at all......

Will: Easy! Ice cold draft beer - pretty sure I could encourage the lads to empty a few kegs… in the interests of making a raft of course!

Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?

Thomas: Anything with the sleeves cut off!!! Sun’s out guns out as they say! Though I don’t have guns, i do however like to pretend I am in an 80s action film sometimes. And i need to pass time so will give me inspiration for role playing activities!

Will: My Scorpians shirt ‘Sails of Charon’ managed to make its way over the waves, shame about the ship!

You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?

Thomas: My mum’s cat Morgan. Always puts a smile on your face! Also keeps pest under control

Will: The cast of Baywatch, we could get a really good beach volleyball tournament on.

There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?

Thomas: Sepultura Barcelona 91” one of the best live recordings I have heard. So fluid but yet so impactful. Beautiful !

Will: One of the greatest live concerts ever, Black sabbath circa ’99 live at the Astoria, original lineup. We could even try a rain dance with the intro to black sabbath.

You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?

Thomas: Really easy question. STING of course. Not only is he a rugged rescuer as seen in the Simpsons but of course he was saved from a desert island once from a message in a bottle and wrote a song about it to boot.

Will: Despite the rhyme of the ancient mariner- it’d have to be Bruce Dickinson- he could fly aces high back to civilisation

You've been stuck here for a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?

Thomas: Sebastián (sorry) the youngstest always has to do the shit jobs. Is the law. Even if it means been sacrificed . Plus he is the best looking so will be missed more by the media when we get rescued and return. which is better publicity for the band.

Will: Unfortunately I think its gotta be Seb, he’s the tallest so we’d get the most meat outta him!

Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?

Thomas: Thats a tough question. Probably my dad Because watching him play classical guitar as a kid got me wanting to playing music. Even though I went down the rock path instead later on.

Will: Guess its Kurt Cobain, without him I wouldn’t of had the ethos of songs/passion/raucous energy to inspire to abandon the land lubbers as a kid and join the good ship rock n roll.
