Lead vocalist/guitarist and band leader Jess Webberley said this about the track...
"Dark Spell is about the feeling that something isn't quite right. The lyric 'Missing a piece of your puzzle' essentially alludes to that, and the wider theme of the song aims to capture the sense of impending doom - and the feeling of isolation that goes along with it."
