Bloodstock Bound: Akkadian
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and EMP stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Akkadian
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Akkadian: Danny, Vocals.
Harry, Guitar.
Max, Guitar.
Chris, Bass.
Aaron, Drums.
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your sound?
Akkadian: We have a wide range of influences. Including Gojira, Lamb of God, Opeth, Avenged Sevenfold, Deftones, Tool, Periphery, Pink Floyd, The Doors and Loathe to name a few. So we naturally blend all of these together to create our own hard hitting, yet groovy and psychedelic songs. We like to keep our songs dynamic and individual. So if you catch us performing, you should hopefully understand our vibe.
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Akkadian: We applied through the general submissions, without competing in M2TM. We feel extremely honoured to have been given an opportunity through this avenue. We’ve been working hard throughout the years, so it’s awesome to see it has not gone unnoticed!
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Akkadian: When we heard the news that we were playing Bloodstock, the sense of achievement and happiness we felt was out of this world. Laughter, hugs and tears had spread throughout the Akkadian team. We’ve always dreamed of playing Bloodstock. So for that to become a reality at this stage in our careers truly is just the stars aligning.
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Akkadian: High energy, dynamic and hypnotic.
For fans of Gojira, Lamb of God, Deftones and Loathe.
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Akkadian: We are performing Sunday. Keep an eye out for times!
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Akkadian: There are so many bands that we will be checking out. But to name a few from our list: Opeth, Architects, Amon Amarth, Malevolence, Whitechapel, Sylosis, Exist Immortal and Unpeople.
The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first steppingstone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Akkadian: We’ll continue to write and release music, tour, make friends, build connections and expand our community, all while working on a debut album in the background. Our end goal is to create a new culture within metal. So if someone recognises our passion, our vision, our determination and is willing to jump on board, then we could truly create something exciting.
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
Akkadian: Believe we will be camping in the Artist section. But we will also be out and about with friends in general camping for the hang.
The Razor's Edge: It’s festival weekend, what’s your food vendor of choice on site?
Akkadian: We all go crazy for Greek food (not just our Greek bassist) so The Greek Street Food truck is definitely one we will be raiding very frequently!
The Razor's Edge: See you at Bloodstock in a few weeks!
Akkadian: See you there!
