Live Review: Amigo The Devil - The Asylum Venue, Birmingham

Birmingham's Asylum was the place to be, as it so often is, for an evening of an infectious energy and a unique music genre "murderfolk", the signature of Amigo The Devil. Supported by Nate Bergman, they oth delivered an unforgettable performance.
Opening the night, Nate Bergman set the tone with his impressive intimate solo set and raw charisma, he captivated the audience and built anticipation for the headliner. His performance was the perfect opener to what was to come, whilst also sharing a personal insight about how much the guys in Amigo The Devil meant to him including what Danny K had done for him, which felt good to see how authentic the performance was.
When Amigo The Devil took the stage, the atmosphere shifted gears to one of intense excitement and anticipation. Known offstage as Danny Kiranos, Amigo The Devil brought his signature dark folk aesthetic, mingled with a surprising amount of humour and lighthearted banter. The highlight of the night was the debut of their brand new song 'Dive Bar', which was met with shock and fluster from the ladies in reference to one line in particular;
“So if you ask for a one I'll always bring two 'cause my face is a barstool waiting for you”
Danny's free spirit and sense of humour shone throughout the evening, creating a warm and engaging environment. The set was a combination of beloved hits performed in a mixture of acoustic and accompanied, ensuring there was something for everyone. Songs like 'Hungover In Jonestown', 'Hell & You', 'Hope Your Husband Dies' and 'Once Upon a Time at Texaco Pt.1' all had the crowd singing along, their voices merging with Danny's in a powerful chorus.
One of the standout aspects of the show was the company of the full band. This addition brought a richness and depth to the live performance, faithfully recreating the album's sound and enhancing the evening overall. It was a real treat for fans to see Danny touring with the full band, as it added those layers which are hard to achieve during a solo performance.
