Bloodstock Bound: Parting With Origin
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and EMP stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Parting With Origin
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Parting With Origin: Hi! On vocals it’s Dan Mannix, on guitars it’s Mat Munday and Ethan Quinn, on bass it’s Dipen Mandalia and on drums it’s James Voss.
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your sound?
Parting With Origin: Honestly, I don’t think we try too much to be different. We write what comes to us and sometimes that is a generic modern metalcore song and sometimes it’s really different and experimental. We try not to bend over backwards to be different, nor to fit any certain set of rules that a genre might have. Some of our currently unreleased songs are really different compared to the WAWOC EP.
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Parting With Origin: Like a lot of people, we just applied via the promoters and we were lucky enough to land a spot!
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Parting With Origin: We grew up all watching the Bloodstock Youtube channel, watching our favourite bands play the main stage means that for us symbolically we’re one step closer to where we want to be.
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Parting With Origin: Honestly were still working out the answer to that question. We’re still trying new things and failing/succeeding every gig we do. We’re really proud of our music and our energy and we really hope we can contribute well to the lineup of the festival.
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Parting With Origin: We’re performing on the Saturday!
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Parting With Origin: Malevolence, Architects, Opeth, Septicflesh, Carcass, Amon Amarth, Sylosis, Hatebreed and our friends like Exist Immortal, Deathcollector and Akkadian. We’re also excited to see Lemmy’s ashes!
The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first steppingstone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Parting With Origin: We’re working on new music and a better live show. Hopefully off the back of this we’ll get offered more opportunities that allow us to demonstrate who and what we are as a band.
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
Parting With Origin: We’ll be artist camping!
The Razor's Edge: It’s festival weekend, what’s your food vendor of choice on site?
Parting With Origin: Easily the Texas smoker.
