Live Review: Crawlers - SWG3, Glasgow

Upon arrival I could feel the excitement in the air surrounding all the eager fans gathered outside the SWG3 venue in Glasgow. Who were they here to see? One of the UK’s fastest up and coming rock bands, born out of Warrington in 2019, Crawlers.
The band first found success when their single ‘’Come Over (Again)’’ went viral on TikTok, after which they accumulated an ever-growing fanbase and will now be supporting the band, Pierce the Veil on the UK leg of their tour in late 2025.
Once inside the SWG3, fans flocked to the merch stand creating a snaking queue through the crowd while the only supporting band of the night, Slowly Slowly took to the stage. The Australian pop-punk band from Melbourne, who will be touring the UK in March 2025 to celebrate the release of their upcoming album ‘Forgiving Spree’, were received well by the rowdy crowd, getting them hyped and ready for Crawlers to take the stage.
I was pleasantly surprised by the Aussie musicians. As someone who hadn’t heard their music before, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but their set was a good mixture of energetic punk and metal inspired riffs, bass and drums, with some more melodic tunes thrown in, which showcased their versatility well and reminded of bands like, The 1975, Fountains of Wayne, and Sum 41. They would definitely appeal well to anyone like me, who grew up listening to music through the late 90s, early 00s which seems to be making a huge comeback with the Gen Alpha youth of today.
Moving on to the main event of the night and as I waited in the dark, sold-out warehouse room at SWG3 on the Crawlers crew setting up the stage. The crowd were singing along to every song that came on the speakers, making Tik Toks, going live and radiating a buzz of anticipation for the English rock band.
As the lights went down and the fans heard the footsteps of the band takings their places, the noise was electric coming from their screams of pure joy, then singer Holly Minto took to the stage opening proceedings with the single ‘I End Up Alone’ from their debut Album ‘The Mess We Seem to Make’ which, this short UK Tour is based around and which hit the top 10 UK albums chart in February of this year.
During the song ‘Kiss Me’, four songs into their set, you could feel the love in the room and couples taking the opportunity to do exactly that, kiss! Holly, is a born star, working the crowd and talking to them like close friends. Making them feel loved and embraced, seemed to come naturally to the singer, and you could see how much the fans adored them and doted on every word.
Again, I found myself watching a band that until this night, I hadn’t heard of (although I put this down to my lack of Tik Tok knowledge) and really enjoying it. The band which grew out of two individuals Holly and Liv meeting at LIPA (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) have fast become a UK favourite among rock and grunge enthusiasts. As I listened, I was reminded of amazing bands like Hole, Distillers and Breeder and thinking to myself that it won’t be long before Crawlers are headlining arenas.
Closing the night out, the band played ‘Come Over (Again)’ after an encore, the song that started it all in some ways and catapulted them towards great things. I can’t wait to see where this band go and what heights they can reach, although, if tonight’s performance and the crowd are anything to go by, I can see them having a long and amazing career in music.
