DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring Paradise

DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring Paradise

Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we find Paradise sat on the beach. The island is far from their home, so how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil's Island?

Find out now...

Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.

You're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?

Frank: Always hated that question … HA! I would save my ZZ Top’s Rythmeen record . Never heard better guitar tones than Billy’s on that recording.

Fred Crew Grrr: I’m gonna go classic on this one. If we’re talking about guitars, Definitely Appetite For Destruction from G n’R

Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?

Frank: Pros and cons of hitch hiking by Roger Waters … great sexy cover ha!

Fred Crew Grrr: Just for the cool van convoy picture, King Of The Road from Fu Manchu.

There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?

Frank: Margaritas all day … from the moment I wake up … heaven.

Fred Crew Grrr: A nice cold pint of strong IPA, this is all I need.

Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?

Frank: For real I have a Purple Rain shirt that I will die with … It’s so used now my wife wants me to get rid of it, but still wear it .

Fred Crew Grrr: My Dinosaur Jr. t-shirt representing the Green Mind album cover. The attitude of that little girl with a smoke always intrigued me.

You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?

Frank: I’d be tempted to say I wouldn’t want anyone else than them … but after a day or two without you know what and their stupid jokes I’d miss my wife HA!

Fred Crew Grrr: I’d be totally happy with Beatrice, my dog. (please don’t tell my wife)

There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?

Frank: Judas Priest Live Vengeance ’82 … Best live show ever period.

Fred Crew Grrr: That Guns N’ Roses show in Paris that aired on ‘’pay per view’’ in the early 90’s featuring Lenny Kravitz playing Always on the run and the guys from Aerosmith for Mama Kin. In my mind this show lasted like 3 hours.

You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?

Frank: You’re really asking if another musician can really help us? HA! Maybe Ted Nugent I hear he’s a pretty good survivalist with resources … I don’t know HA!

Fred Crew Grrr: If we need a nerd to solve problems, anyone from Devo? maybe?

You've been stuck here a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?

Frank: The last one to have entered the band obviously.

Fred Crew Grrr: Weird question! Only the strong will survive so might as well sacrifice myself.

Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?

Frank: My guitar teacher in my late teens. A New-York blues man with. He had a great view on life and music even though we talked about those things at 5 in the morning playing chess on blow and cognac 😉 Great times.

Fred Crew Grrr: Bob Marley. I just like the way he used to think. I’d have so many questions!

Thanks for your time. We hope you get back to dry land before you're next due out on tour!

Frank: I don t know, I kind of like it here. Thx for the interest and please leave me here .

Fred: Cheers!
