Polish death thrashing titans Vader return with their first new material in five years in a three song E.P. titled “Humanihility”. It’s a short but sweet release that shows that Vader have lost none of their potency. It acts as a showcase for the song ‘Unbending’ which is the official anthem for this year's edition of Mystic Festival. This E.P. is the recording debut for drummer Michal Andrzejczyk who joined the band in 2022 and marks the return of guitarist Mauser who rejoined the band in 2024 after a sixteen year absence.

The three songs which make up “Humanihility” are classic Vader and in less than ten minutes show the various levels of sonic destruction that the Polish extreme metal legends are still capable of. The opener ‘Genocide Designed’ is a swirling hurricane of death thrashing goodness which will sweep the listener up in its vortex of carnage.

‘Rampage’ is exactly how it describes itself - a two minute blast of sonic violence which barely stops to catch breath - and once it ends it is the point where the E.P. slows down a tad with the chuggier, darker and more atmospheric final song ‘Unbending’.

“Humanihility” is a great little E.P. and very much lives up to the saying short but sweet. The band sound in fantastic shape and the songs themselves sound massive. For a band that have been going for over 40 years, Vader show no signs of weariness and still sound absolutely relentless. After five years between releases, three songs is a small amount to get but it definitely leaves the listener wanting more. With the strength of these three songs, hopefully a new album is on the horizon.
