Bloodstock Bound: Rizen
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and EMP stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Rizen
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Rizen: Hi! We’re Rizen 🤘 we have Adrian Miles on lead vocals, Brian Hillson on lead/rhythm guitar and backing vox, we have Chris Morley on lead/rhythm guitar and backing vox, Josh Taylor on bass guitar and backing vox and last but by no means least we have Mike Cakebread on drums.
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your sound?
Rizen: We’re definitely a heavy rock band, however we do have some songs, or parts of our songs that metal heads will love! Think a little bit Iron Maiden sort of metal.
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Rizen: We won all of our M2TM heats in Somerset
The Razor's Edge: How tough was the competition this year?
Rizen: It was an incredibly tough competition! This was our first time entering the competition. We honestly didn’t think we’d get through! But we’re so glad we did 💪 the other bands were incredible and gave us a run for our money.
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Rizen: It’s an absolute honour to play at Bloodstock! A few of us have always wanted to come along to the festival as punters but never had the chance. So this is our first time here!
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Rizen: They can expect a high energy set full of singing along and a lot of head banging, we’ll be using every inch of that stage to our advantage! Who knows, we may even get a cheeky wall of death in the set too!

The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Rizen: We’re performing on the Sunday! Be there!
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Rizen: Aside the obvious and amazing headliners for each day, Orange Goblin will be great to see again, Fear Factory because I missed them at Download last year, Nailbomb, Mastodon, August Burns Red. The list goes on! Also all the other bands who won their M2TM heats! It’ll be great to see them
The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first steppingstone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Rizen: Well. We’d love to return to Bloostock and try to play every stage available. We have a bunch of new songs that are down for recording as soon as possible! Hopefully a UK tour next year to promote the new album/EP.
If anyone see’s us, loves us and has any recommendations for venues in their city/town give us a shout. There’s a whole host of festivals we’d love to play as well, including Stonedead, Maid of Stone, Steelhouse. And we even have our sights set on Download! so we’ll be pushing to play them. Watch this space!
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
Rizen: We’ll be heading for artist camping. However we’ll be visiting friends in VIP and Asgard too! So we’ll be all over the place, come say hi to us if you see us
The Razor's Edge: You’ve gotta keep hydrated at Bloodstock, what is your drink of choice for the weekend?
Rizen: As we’re all Somerset lads, we all love a good cider! Failing that, JD and Coke will always be more than welcome… and water! That’s also very important.
The Razor's Edge: See you at Bloodstock in a few weeks!
Rizen: See ya then! Can’t wait to show you all what we’ve got. See you down the front
