House of Hosts Track By Track Run Down of 'Reckoning' EP
Swansea-based riff merchants, HOUSE OF HOSTS, continue to rise and are armed with their blistering new EP, Reckoning, which arrives this Friday. We exclusively caught with the band’s vocalist, Dan Foley-Griffiths and asked him to give us a track by track breakdown of the release:
Through My Eyes
“About how in a relationship someone can be controlling or manipulating without even realising due to previous trauma. The line "I will want nothing more, once I open that door, her word is law" feeling powerless and controlled as if you have no say but can't speak out. The chorus brings to light, sacrifice and harsh truth.”
Darkest Days
“Goes out to any parent who has been through the tragedy of losing a child. Written from the point of view of the father, as that’s the only story I can tell. Not just a song about grief and loss but a testimony to those couples who stay together and grow in strength and love.”
Pedestal
“A song about being looked down upon by the wealthy, the powerful, the influential. No matter how much we try to speak out about the wrongs of the world, it almost feels impossible to be heard. The line "these ties as they bind round my mouth and my hands, they burn as I yearn to make you understand" shows this.”
Confession:
“A dirty song from start to finish! Diving into the realms of desire, lust, power, greed and consequence. About someone seeking the help of a God but only to find that they were alone with no help from a higher power, except the Devil was there to "take the reigns"”
