DEVIL’S ISLAND featuring DarkFlow

DEVIL'S ISLAND featuring DarkFlow

Welcome to this weeks edition of Devil's Island! Every week we maroon a band or artist on the island and see what they get up to, how they cope with being all alone on a small island in the middle of the ocean. It's not your average desert island and we'll see just how each person copes with the extreme conditions.

This week when we arrived at Devil's Island we find DarkFlow sat on the beach. The island is far from their home, so how did they end up here and how did they cope with life on Devil's Island?

Find out now...

Welcome to The Razors'e Edge and our somewhat lovely, warm desert island. Don't worry about it's name I'm sure it's not as bad as that would suggest.

You're marooned here on this island, but before you ended up shipwrecked you chose one album that you couldn't live without. Which album did you each chose and why?

Wow this is a unbelievable hard question for me, I am fan of so many bands. But if I had to live my entire rest of my life to hear ONE goddamn album, it would certainly be “Abigail” from King Diamond. I hope the other bandmates have some good ones too so I can hear other thing than King Diamond, listen it untl I hate it would destroy my heart.

Just behind that palm tree is a shack for each of you to stay in, with enough space for you to put up a poster on the wall of one album cover. What album cover do you each chose?

I couldn’t care less about what the others would choose, but I would completely have the “9” from Mercyful Fate. The cover was done by the magnificent Thomas Holms and he also did a huge cover for them, in the album “Don’t Break The Oath”.

There's also a bar on this here island. But alas each of you only get to choose one drink for the entirety of your stay. What's your tipple of choice?

Good Irish whisky, so I could get WASTED and don’t try to kill my other musicians. It would be like a medicine for me, I will drink that ALL DAY and let the others be as they want. I want to be drunk and not giving a flying fuck about the rest of us, maybe the whisky would make me sweeter to my band mates and being drunk hearing King Diamond and whatever the other band mates had for their choice of album, it would make me try to party until we die.

Your suitcases were lost when your ship sank, but you each managed to salvage one item of band merch. What’s the merch and for what band?

I only use King Diamond and Mercyful Tshirts everyday so I would have one of them, the one given to me by Andy LaRocque, that’s a great t-shirt.

You’re sat on the island thinking “I’m stuck here on this island with my bandmates for eternity”… who would you rather have been shipwrecked with?

Hands down my brother, we would have arguings of course, but we’re the closest brothers ever and we would have fun being creative and adventurous, I wouldn’t take a star or someone I don’t know. It would be the man that I know the most and vice versa. If not, my band is there so I would also have chosen Flow, my guitar player and best friend, but he’s stucked there with me, his hell… Believe me, we love each other as best friends, but for fuck sake I love drive Flow crazy with my wild way of being.

There's a walkman in your pocket, on the tape inside is the recording of the one live show that stands out for you. It could be any show, from any band, anywhere in the world. What show is on that walkman?

Ozzy’s last concert, to never forget the huge idol who we now lost and I’m sad that he died. I am happy to have seen him in concerts but now I will have to live with the memories he gave me. For sure that walkman would have Back To The Beginning so I will never forget what is to end your musical career as the biggest person on earth. Viva Ozzy Osbourne, in my heart, in my soul and in all my memories.

You're getting desperate, you decide the only course of action is to put a message in a bottle and hope someone finds it. Your message could be to any member of any band, but should be the most suitable for a rescue attempt. Who is it?

Which musician would be suitable to rescue someone? We’re all just good composers, writers, entertainers. I don’t know how to even rescue myself from my health issues and all the musicians I’ve met are dumb as fuck. So yeah truly, if I had to pick one, it would be someone who cares about people. Maybe David Guilmour? I don’t know if that guy is fit for the job but he seems to be fucking nice. If not I would send a message to Andy LaRocque who produced our last album. So if he saves us he will have good clients. Win Win I think.

You've been stuck here a while and food supplies are running low. There's only one thing for it... which fellow band member gets sacrificed to help the others survive?

Self sacrificing? Hahaahhaha I wouldn’t let that happen, I would kill without a doubt Dr. Trykster in a blink of a second. He’s a nice guy, by far maybe the nicest one in DarkFlow. But he’s fat so we would have at least a feast before the next one I’d kill.

Finally, when the ship sank you each managed to save one person from the wreckage. That person is the one musician that has influenced your career the most, shaped your way of thinking and your outlook on life. Who did you save?

King Diamond, but as said before, I wouldn’t save a celebrity… it’s my hero, my idol whatever the fuck you want. But we would have time to learn enough of each other to maybe hate each other, and that would be sad. Be your heroes be far and love their music, you don’t know what kind of a person they are.
