Bloodstock Bound: Cancel The Transmission
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and EMP stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Cancel The Transmission
Please introduce yourselves.
I’m Justin, lead singer and guitarist for Cancel the Transmission, Jason Jenkins is on drums, and Jacob holds everything together on bass. We’ve been flying the flag for big riff-driven hard rock since 2016, with one mission: to prove that rock music still belongs on the biggest stages.
How would you describe your sound?
We’re probably more hard rock than straight-up metal, but we definitely have one foot in that world. Think huge choruses, big riffs, soaring guitars and the kind of songs that are made to be played loud in front of thousands of people. We love the classic bands, but we’re always trying to give it a modern edge.
How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
We simply applied, but a lot of hard work over the last few years hasn’t gone unnoticed. We’ve kept writing, releasing music, gigging whenever we can and building momentum. Getting the call to play Bloodstock was a massive moment for us and we’re determined to make the most of it.
What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
It’s huge. Bloodstock is one of the UK’s most respected festivals and somewhere every heavy band wants to play. To be part of that lineup is an honour, and hopefully it’s the beginning of even bigger things for us.
For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Energy from the first note to the last. We don’t stand still, we want the crowd singing, moving and feeling like they’ve discovered their new favourite band. Expect big hooks, loud guitars and plenty of moments for head banging!
What day are you performing?
We’re playing on the Saturday so make sure you come down early and help us kick things off properly!
What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
There’s so many. It’s one of those festivals where you can discover bands you’ve never heard before. We’ll definitely be catching as many sets as we can between our own commitments.
Playing the EMP Stage is just the first steppingstone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Keep releasing music, keep touring and keep getting in front of bigger audiences. We’ve got plenty of new material on the way, and the goal has always been the same—play bigger stages, reach more people and help bring rock music back into the mainstream.
Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
We’re actually camping in the artist section. You’ll probably find us wandering around with a drink in hand chatting to people, checking out bands and soaking up the atmosphere.
You’ve gotta keep hydrated at Bloodstock, what is your drink of choice for the weekend?
During the day it’ll probably be plenty of water so we can survive the set… afterwards, a cold lager is pretty hard to beat!
