Bloodstock Bound: Lost To Light
As Bloodstock gets closer, we delve deep into the line up to find out more about some of the bands playing the New Blood and EMP stages at this years event.
Today we chat with Lost To Light
The Razor's Edge: Please introduce yourself and your band mates.
Lost To Light: Hey! I’m Nick - one of the vocalists. Then there’s Ash – also on vocals, Daryl & Dan – Guitars, Stef – Bass & Tom – Drums.
The Razor's Edge: How would you describe your sound?
Lost To Light: As a broad description I’d say we’re a ‘Metalcore’ band, but if you dig a little deeper you’ll hear a mix of influences ranging from Death Metal to, dare I say it, ‘Pop’ music. We like to keep it heavy, whilst giving people something to sing along to. No-one said we couldn’t have blast-beats and a catchy chorus in the same song.
The Razor's Edge: How did you land your spot on the Bloodstock bill?
Lost To Light: I saw Simon post saying he was taking applications for the New Blood stage for bands not part of the M2TM Initiative, so I sent him an email with our EPK and an early look at our music videos & EP. The planets aligned for us and he must have liked what he heard/saw, as a couple weeks later we received an offer for a slot at the festival.
The Razor's Edge: What does playing at Bloodstock mean to you?
Lost To Light: It’s honestly an honour and a privilege for all of us. My first time at Bloodstock was in 2010 when a friend of mine was playing the New Blood stage with Lordaeron after they made it through M2TM, now here we are 14 years later with our own chance to show the Bloodstock crowd what we’re made of.
The Razor's Edge: For people who’ve never seen you live, what can they expect at Bloodstock?
Lost To Light: Big Riffs, Bigger Choruses and plenty of opportunities for some fun in the pit! Did someone say, ‘Circle Pit’?
The Razor's Edge: What day are you performing?
Lost To Light: We’re playing on Saturday 10th alongside giants of our genre like Architects and Sylosis! We’re yet to get our set time though, so keep an eye out for that!
The Razor's Edge: What other bands are you looking forward to watching at Bloodstock this year?
Lost To Light: Oh man, there’s too many to count! I’ve already mentioned Architects and Sylosis, Opeth, Malev, Whitechapel, Carcass, Exist Immortal….the list goes on!
The Razor's Edge: Playing the New Blood Stage is just the first steppingstone in a bands journey. What’s next in your plans for world domination?
Lost To Light: Step 1: Play Bloodstock, Step 2:????, Step 3: PROFIT. Haha, but on a serious note, following our first EP released on the 2nd August, we have a second EP yet to be revealed with more singles & more videos. In September (29th) we’re playing Hometown Festival at our local Derby venue, ‘The Hairy Dog’. Beyond that we’ll be looking to play some more shows around the UK and preparing ourselves for what next years festival season has in store for us!
The Razor's Edge: Are you camping with the fans? Which campsite are you heading for?
Lost To Light: I think we’re in Artist Camping, but we’ll be doing the rounds of all the campsites to see what chaos is underway!
The Razor's Edge: It’s festival weekend, what’s your food vendor of choice on site?
Lost To Light: Texas Smoker, no question about it.
