Willowtip records certainly has a flare for bringing the best and most electric and interesting death metal to my attention and recently it's come courtesy of Kaiju themed Gigan. Anomalous Abstractigate Infinitessimus is the band's new release coming seven years after its predecessor on the same label.

It's a record which sets its tone right from the opening bars. When that first note hits Gigan showcase a huge daunting sound which quickly erupts into sheer mayhem. Anomalous Abstractigate Infinitessimus has begun and in the first eight minutes which you are greeted by the Illinois three piece in which Gigan starts you off on a journey of discovery, a journey which pushes the levels of creativity you can find within death metal records.

Album Review: Gigan - Anomalous Abstractigate Infinitessimus

I'll be honest this is a band I was not familiar with before hearing this record and what I feel that instantly grabbed my attention was how entwined the technically of the instruments were and it excited me even more that one man, the bands founder Eric Hersemann handles everything but the drums. His vision is so on point that he is able to craft these stunning and complex songs, which are both technically outstanding and amazingly catchy. This really is a full throttle audio sensation of a record. I also love the drum sound, it's full, has great punch and really adds a dynamic to the album that as technically proficient as a lot of drummers are they don't bring as much to the tracks as these drums bring to this release.

Anomalous Abstractigate Infinitessimus is a formidable piece of death metal collecting some of the most interesting compositions I have heard this year. It really has everything I like about the style wrapped up in eight tracks and will keep me coming back for more and more.
